Structuring SEO and Business URL's

I have a website under my business name and after reading some threads here purchased some SEO friendly Domain Names and have them forwarding to my business name...

Does this setup work? Will my business name get the SEO benefits of the URL's being forwarded or do I need to actually host each URL that I am using?

    The idea behind buying the keyword targeted domains and forwarding them via a 301 redirect is to capture traffic that is diverted to your main site.

    You should be working on branding your company name and services locally as well.

      I may not be understanding the answer...

      To receive the benefits of SEO in a URL...Does the URL itself have to be hosted or does having the URL forwarded to content that is rich in the word or phrase you are optimizing for work just as well?
