Video Website Apprasals?

I recently heard that some "offline" guys are shipping out Fed Ex DVDs that have a 6-8 minute overview of a prospects website and rankings and offering their services.

Anyone else think that this is a good idea?

    If you have the budget for it then MAYBE... but you'd do just as well by...

    - Create your video using a screencapture program
    - Upload the file to Vimeo (Free account)
    - password-protect the video thru Vimeo
    - Create a web page on your site and embed the video into the web page
    - Call/email/contact your prospect and send them the link to the video along with the password to "unlock" the video.

    WOrks like a charm, and you won't need to spend a nickel on DVDs nor shipping.

    It's pretty much the same concept that's been going around about doing a camtasia video and emailing the client with it, it's just a physical version. The big difference I would see is that the physical DVD's would get more attention. You may be able to close more clients with the physical version, but the cost for each one would be a lot more than free. I guess it would depend on your budget and then just test the conversion between the two.

    In general I think it's a good idea though.

    I'm thinking with "BIG ticket" prospects (high value business/service) who are anxious to get the competitive edge, I might do the DVD. Like Chad said, the dvd has a higher perceived value and Fed Ex packages get opened. The online video will cost less but have a much lower conversion as you still need to get them to respond, or even open your email, if they even check them at all.

    Yes, it is batter to send such DVDs to only related business only. I also receive some times.
