Need Input For Offline Client

Hi Warriors.
I'm having great success in my offline marketing business. I have a prospect that has an interesting "business".

He is promoting the idea of "Keeping America Great". The guy's site is a complete train wreck. He's coming to me to try to help build a following for his cause.

Agree or disagree with his methods, I'm intrigued by his concept of how to grow the "subscription" base. Basically, his deal is a $25 one-time fee and a $5/month subscription with the goal of getting thousands of people signed up to pay for lobbying Congress and promoting change in our governement.

Ok...all that said, here is what intrigued me. It's sort of an affiliate deal where if someone refers someone to his site and they sign up for the $25 and $5/month, the person that referred the subscriber gets $20 and the organization gets the other $5.

So I thought I'd come to you Warriors for your input on how to help this guy. I'm not suggesting anyone join his cause...that's not why I posted this message. Rather, I'd like your thoughts on how to help this guy grow a subscriber base....the fact that someone could make money for referring people made me think of affiliate marketing and what better place to get the real scoop than the Warrior forum.

Any thoughts or ideas are welcome. I don't really care if you agree or disagree with his philosophy of "keeping america great" but how would you bring subscribers to a client like this??

My thoughts are that social media is key in finding like minded people interested in subscribing to his deal...but the money making possibilities might bring interest from people like us that could potentially drive hordes of subscribers to him for a cut.

Thanks Warriors!

Sure, social media is a natural. But there's regular advertising too. Plenty of political sites out there and even news sites where cost-effective advertising could do the trick. It would seem that a list would be a good first step as well. Get people to sign up for news and updates, etc, and then slowly pepper them to actually "contribute."

With a cause or political themed site you would do pretty well with a Facebook fanpage and Youtube videos. Those kind of things can go viral and get passed around quite a bit. Then once people are familiar with the cause then they could go for the membership and money part of it.

    • Thanks you guys. I like the idea of developing a list..I had mentioned that to him as the first thing he should be doing.

He has YouTube videos too but says they don't get a lot of play. He has approximately 100 subscribers and wants to get that number to 15K by the end of next year. He's going to need some real social media expertise.

While I can rank a site well for targeted keyword with SEO and SEM, I lack the time or expertise to manage a social campaign at this national scale. I suppose I could see what someone would charge from Elance to do a social media campaign.

See if you agree with me. The first step would be to fix his site I think:

      http://keepusagreatdotcom/main/

(After reading through his info, I'm scared sh*tless about where this country is heading! )

Thanks again for your feedback...anyone else's comments are welcome. An email optin is a great start. I was thinking just 1 video on the main page explaining what his deal is about...keep is simple and to the point and organize the site..

      Thanks again Warriors!

I've been involved in politics and even run a few campaigns. I'm partners in a very large political blog site. It's extremely hard to monetize political sites. Even people like Michelle Malkin make the majority of their money from book sales and speaking engagements. It's a terrible market to try and make money strictly from the web unless you're using it to promote other stuff to an audience (like Malkin). That's why most political sites are subsidized by PACs, as is ours.

I looked at his site and it's abysmal. After 45 seconds of scanning, I am not sure what he's pitching... join as a business?
