Client Advice - Automatic News Feed

I got a new client yesterday, a Real Estate Investor.

He wants a new website because his current one is really bad.

However, the one thing I did notice on his current site is some type of newsfeed that automatically updates his site with real estate news.

I think he's going to want to keep this feature, but before I talk to him about it today, I was wondering if it's easy to set this up on his new site (which will be a WP blog)?

I've heard about "auto-drip" blogging but don't know a lot about it... does it sound like this is what we'll need?

I think I've also heard that auto-feeds are not good (forgot why).

Anyway, if anyone has any insight on this topic, let me know.

Thanks!

Kim

It'll depend a little bit about the type of info he wants on the site, but I would think you could just import the RSS feeds of a well known Real Estate resource blog and call that good.

Get the Feedwordpress plugin, you can use it to display any valid rss feed.

If I were the client, I would definitely not accept such a substitution.

A blog does not have anywhere the same value as news. A blog is one person's opinion. A newsfeed provides lots of data and notifications of new products and events related to the topic, from many sources.

Just do a search for "free real estate newsfeed" and you will find what you need.

You most likely don't need to drop the news already on there. I bet it is a free source. All you need to do is understand how rss feeds are displayed and yes, wordpress does have plugins to make that process easier

    Marcia,

The word "blog" gets thrown around here a lot when people actually mean "website", because they are using wordpress to build it. I have built several wordpress "blogs" that you would never guess was done with wordpress.

This isn't necessarily handled by RSS. It could be an API calls, so you got to make sure you know which it is before you start promising things.

OK... thank you guys for your input!

All of this helps and we are on track... he definitely wants to keep the newsfeed and I've discovered how to do it.

    Thanks again
