UK Shipping Expensive!

Hi there,

I have several online businesses which involve shipping physical goods around the globe. In my experience in this field I have found the cost of shipping from / to the UK to be astronomical compared with shipping to / from the US.
Any Warriors found this or discovered any alternatives?

    Shipping from anywhere is astronomical compared to the US, from continental Europe it's much more expensive than it is from the UK (cheapest place in Europe to ship from).

    I don't know about differences in shipping TO the UK, but I can tell you that FedEx for example costs four times as much from the UK to Oz as it does from UK to US. I guess it's just a volume thing.

    Could you drop ship from the US maybe?

      Well, shipping international is expensive. Duh! One thing to try is looking for a logistics company based in the country you ship to. Use a low cost sea based shipment of bulk product to the host country and let them ship internally. You can use FTZ's (at least in the US) to avoid paying duties until the product actually ships to a customer. In the US an easy way to start is Amazon Logistics (not sure if available outside of the US). A tab bit spendy but you can't beat Amazon for reliability and ease of working with. Logistics providers are everywhere.

    I have found shipping costs to be a limiting factor in trying to develop a online e-commerce business so it would be good to see what other members come up with here.
