Has anyone bought leads from this company ?

In the never ending task of growing my business one of the many things I do is buy leads. My best ( but also most expensive) source is resource nation. Anyways I have came across a new company , amivisible.org. I knew they existed but didn't think to much of it. I recieved some info regarding leads they sell, and at first glance it looks pretty promising and cost effective. However, when I ask for one or two client references they can not provide rewferences because of thier privacy policy. On their site they do have testimonials from both orangesoda and yoodle, but I would like to hear from a smaller scaled business. So has anyone used amivisible.org as a lead source? They are owned by Palore. I would welcome any experiences with amivisible.org or their sister companies before I spend $500-$1000 .

So has any used amivisible.org as a lead source ?

I just bought their starter package last week to call on Local businesses, but since Google decided to change their Local SERPs, I have put it on hold until I change our product line to reflect the new changes.

I signed up for leads looking for web design and these are my experiences.

I used Resource Nation at the beginning of this year for a month or two and towards the end of my experiences with them, I was getting leads (in the US) whose names were "non-english" and English was their second language.

Also, around that time, I had some leads from Resource Nation that never answered their phone and never called back.

My Experiences with Resource Nation produced very poor quality leads.

I prefer to generate my own leads personally. I was taught early on that buying leads is one of the biggest scams going today. You often get

    1. People who aren’t interested and never will be, who are often times angry that you are “harassing them.” they’ll often scream and curse at you and threaten to call the authorities if you ever contact them again.

    2. People who are already in a business and aren’t looking for another one.

    3. Wrong and often times disconnected phone numbers and non existent e-mail addresses. Ever get an angry father on the line threatening to “break you in half.” if you ever call his ten year old daughter again?

This is the kind of common place crap that you get when you buy leads.

So, these are just lists of prospects?

Why don't you look on Fiverr or post an ad on craigslist and hire someone (an independent contractor) to find EXACTLY what you're looking for instead of paying way too much for leads that may or may not be in line with what you need? You are giving up way too much money and control using these companies.

If you buy leads from a reputable source, the benefit is that you're getting hot leads of people who are actually looking for the services you offer.

Since they are already looking for the service you offer (say SEO services), the probability of closing them would be many times higher than someone who you contact out of the blue and isn't looking for the service you offer.

So, what are your normal conversion rates from these lists? They must be pretty high since they are already looking for online marketing services.

Unless, of course, these list brokers are just TELLING you that they are warm leads....

        Emma,

The conversion rates depend on a lot of factors like where the lead came from, what the lead is looking for (web design, SEO, web programming, etc.). I'd say a close rate of 1 in 10 is about average.

And these aren't from a list, so it's not like you're just buying a list of names. There's no question where the lead came from because you know how the lead company gathers the leads before hand.

The way it typically works is a buyer will end up on the lead company's website looking for information about whatever they want to buy. The lead company then has a web form the buyer fills out to get a quote or to consult with someone who can help them.

The lead company sells the lead and you buy it from them. Often the lead is resold to other providers like yourself. This is usually in the range of 3-5 depending on the lead source. The person who fills out the form knows that someone will be contacting them, because they request it.

That's it in a nutshell and is transparent process when working with a reputable lead source.

Do not buy leads from a leadbroker. The leadbroker might not be honest. He could easily make an additional $1,500 thru lead resale to others. Commonly called shared leads they can be sold and resold up to a dozen times more. You need to who you're dealing with. Some of the most heavily advertised sources are the least reputable and they have tremendous advertising budgets to lure you in.

The best advance I can give is generate the leads yourself. There are hundreds of ways to generate quality leads with no out of pocket expenses. Here's one using twitter. Post URL of landing page on twitter where it ask for web address. Start delivering value with real content. Direct people to the landing page from twitter. Give away a free report on your niche. People will opt-in to your landing page. This is the best leads you can get.

I'd like to se how this turns out. I looked at Buyer Zone today but found a bunch of negative reports online. In some cases people were reporting 90% of the leads were inactive.
Shivon, I'm in the promo business. So you're saying give away something like a document on how to save money buying these things. Pop that into the twitter account, but what do you mean by opting into the landing page?

    Thanks
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[2818591].message }}
  • Profile picture of the author shivon
An optin page is a place where you can put in your name and email. To receive an free report, chapter of a book, ebook, ecourse, videos, and software, This is essential to list building.

Twitter provides the option to connect your website or landing page. Alot of people leave money on the table by connecting their twitter page to their website. This is wrong when you're doing online marketing. Always build your list. Each email on your list is worth a dollar.

Promomanagers p.m. based on your niche I will come up with something you can give away.

These are warm leads , not just a calling list. I also use a list for my cold callers, but that is a different way I prospect. Resource nation charges me $22-$28 per lead depending on the category. ( internet marketing is just part of what my Marketing Firm delivers). For those that asked about creating my own leads via a squeeze page , thanks for the suggestion - but I do that already and ppc. The facts are not too many business owners are searching for us online, because they are too busy running their businesses and trying to keep the doors open. I've had a goal of 2 new clients a week, I have met and surpassed that goal. My new goal is 5 new clients a week. The reason I asked about amivisible is because this was yet another prospecting avenue I was looking at. For those that are serious about your business , it is best to have several prospecting methods, preferably working in sync.

So with that being said , has anyone else used amivisible.org as a lead source ? If so what is your thoughts and\or experience ?

    Rdrais,

Are your cold callers in-house, through an outbound calling service, or individually contracted telemarketers? I'm in the process of finding someone to make calls for me, so I'm curious what your experience is with this.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[2821307].message }}
  • Profile picture of the author rdraiss
The cold callers are mostly individually contracted and local. ( I also have simple campaigns where they call after business hours to follow up on a email or direct mail piece sent , however I have cold callers in the Philippines help me with that. ) I did use a outbound calling service, however it was not cost effective as I needed it to be . I find better results and more cost effective to use local people. The key is communication--you must keep an open communication line for ANYONE that does work for you.

    rdraiss,

I agree on getting cold callers locally. Do they work from their homes? I'm looking in my area now for just one person and then hoping to expand from there. How did you find your local cold callers?
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[2822125].message }}
  • Profile picture of the author rdraiss
I find my cold callers numerous ways. I am pretty active in the community, so I make sure the word is spread . I also have a few jv partnerships with other professionals , and when they don't have enough work for the employees , I hire them on. I also use the local newspaper, craigslist , and monster .normally when I have 1 or 2 good callers they know others that would be a good fit and refer them to me ( I give them $50 finders fee)

I am going to purchase the leads from amivisible and see how it goes, so I will keep everyone updated.

I've only ever purchased leads from Resource Nation for the Web Design industry and I gotta be honest. The leads weren't that great and I fee like they were over-priced.

I will look into some other companies that are mentioned on this thread.

      Rdrais,

I've recently posted some ads on Craigslist and a few forums for phone sales reps. I'm in the process of going through them to find someone to start selling one of our packages. Do you pay them straight commission or do you pay hourly + commission? JVing with other businesses is an interesting idea.

Looking forward to hearing how the AmIVisible leads do for you.

I've never not made money buying leads, and Ive been using that method on and off for almost 7 years. Again, you're going to be competing so you better know how to sell. Sure there are a few that are garbage anywhere you go, but generally if you can sell you can close 15% or so.

What do I offer my clients ? Well since I have several different solutions to offer clients, but first I listen to them and find out both the obstacles they know they are facing as well as obstacles that are not as apparent to them . I also don't just practice Internet marketing , but complete marketing solutions.

As far as telemarketers I pay them a hourly wage plus a great commission with potentials for bonuses and other perks. I have tried commission only ,but it did not produce the results I needed. The key is to always give your people daily goals, weekly goals, and monthly goals . Then you must monitor there success rate.

Never been on forums very much , because I my time is devoted to my business, but I can see how forums can become addicting.

I'm starting with the starter pack - 250. The guy said that companies are closing at 10% at the $199-$399 price point. My price point is $1500-$2000 (minimum) to start and he said closing rate is more 5%. It's worth the small investment to try them out.

These leads are worth a shot because the price per lead is fairly low ($4-5 each). They do require a fair amount of work and follow-up to close though. They're sold to 3 other SEO companies, so just know that you are competing with other companies calling on them also.

One of the biggest drawbacks I've found is that the leads don't seem to be expecting calls from multiple providers. This is the fault of AmIVisible because they don't mention on their lead form that they'll receive calls from different companies.

I knew I shouldn't start reading the Offline threads! Alright, I must say how surprised I am at the negative comments about buying leads. Either people didn't know what they were doing when they bought or were convinced not to do buy someone else who didn't know what they were doing.
All you have to do is talk to a list broker live, give them exactly what you are looking for (Exactly). Then ask who else is sending out to the same list and how many times. If buying leads was no good why would there be a company paying $50,000 every month for the freshest new leads? If people here knew the money that direct marketers make with list rentals it would blow their minds. Us little fish just emulate them on a smaller scale is all.

That is so refreshing to read, and actually you would be surprised how many on this forum are quietly doing just that. I buy leads regularly through infousa.com and load them up in my autoresponder as well as mail hundreds of thousands of post cards monthly. Buying targeted leads is one of the best advertising bargains available.
