Moving a website - Wordpress

I have a client and want to set up his domain on my hosting at wordpress which is easy.

The problem I have is that I am converting to wordpress so I have installed wordpress but I need it to look and act like wordpress is installed.

Unfortunately I think you must have to change the htaccess or some thing to make sure it runs properly till we change the nameservers.

So this is what it looks like at the moment valedisplay.com.au but I think I must have to do something so it pulls in everything properly.

I think lots of people would have this problem so detailed info would be good.

Any help appreciated.

I think the nameservers need 48 hours for their proper propagation. So wait for 48 hours before you try to change anything.

No Vishal that is not the problem.

I want to build it and sow the customer before I change the nameservers.

Well to show a beta of how the site might actually look like, you can either use a sub-domain on either their site or on your own site and show them. So when they like your site, you can install wordpress on the root of the site with either their hosting or yours.

I would recommend you using a subdomain on your own site so that you can show them quickly and can make modifications easily if anything arises. Then when everything is OK you can change their nameservers to your hostgator and install wordpress on it.

I use Wordpress Backup Buddy. It is perfect for your situation.

Install your prototype in a folder on your domain. www.yourdomain.com/client

Design it exactly how you want it.

Then use backupbuddy to move it. Their site will down for less than an hour.

sorry, I don't understand what is your problem. Can you install wordpress on your subdomain just for showing purpose only and then redirect to customer domain once sale is made?

So the customer has a site already.

I have got to move there domain to my hostgator. All this is easy.

I have set up their domain in my hosting and installed wordpress .

So far so good. But there is one more step I have forgotton and that is which file do I edit to make it look live untill I redirect name servers.

I have installed but something is missing because it looks like this valedisplay.com.au

It is not accessing the DB.

I think it is in the config or htaccess file. I need to change something.

Did you try to contact your hosting company support and ask them?

It sounds to me like you want to build a site in Beta, get it exactly how you want it all while not disturbing the existing site and then turn it live when it's ready. Am I missing anything?

My understanding is that Wordpress is not set up to do this conventionally. There is a way to execute this by using a subdomain. This might help:

    Good Luck.

    I worked it out guys.

You have to install wordpress manually and not through fantasticao and it work like a charm.

Once they approve just redo the nameservers and its live.
