I am curious as well if anyone is managing mobile ads for their offline clients. Something I have been thinking about doing.
Just trying to add to the list

I have actually started the development of something that could target this really well...

Will keep everyone informed of a launch date and how to partner to use the network... But it will all be predicated on DEALS (of course) for the consumer --- on iPhone and Droid.

Sorry that you can't PM me, but I'll begin posting more in the near future, the development cycle is just long and arduous, so it takes up the majority of my days.

I'm doing a Foursquare.com deal with a local restaurant client.

I actually experienced the "Nearby Offer" from the restaurant on Foursquare.com when in a restaurant nearby

Took weeks to get approved from Foursquare though

Why did it takes weeks to get your account approved on Foursquare? Once you check-in on your business it is instantaneous in our experience.

We also promote SMS text message marketing. There is an absolute ton of competition online but offline, actually visiting businesses, restaurants the most, no one has ever heard of it.

Once you ask what they are doing for marketing currently and how it is working for them...they have displayed a sense of pain and are open to hearing about a solution.

The hardest part is actually getting the business to promote the service and build a list. It is much different from traditional marketing in which everything is done for them. With SMS, the business owner must be active and have the staff on board to a higher extent versus other marketing.

I am acting as their outside consultant and wouldn't have used the same TLD in my email as the restuarant e.g. cringer@mydomain.com as opposed to cringer@restaurantdomainname.com
Well that's the only reasoning I could think of - but either way it took 2-3 weeks for the special offer I put up there to get approved.
I also appear as "Staff" on the restaurant's foursquare.com page now.

Aside from restaurants, you could also try 'shopping malls', 'fashion retailers' and Cineplex chains.

Mobile advertising. I'm running ads from multiple services on multiple networks around the globe. I bought the mobile monopoly offering and while it was not as described I didn't ask for my money back. It was 70 bucks or something like that and was a good primer. Adam is just too "ya-know, like totally, you're gonna kill it with this."

If you're looking for an "end-all, be-all" plug and play offering, it isn't out there... yet. I think someone above mentioned that they were putting together something, I'll take a look at it.

Mobile advertising takes money and time. Test, test, test. Or, in other words, spend, spend, spend (both time and money.)

Mobile advertising is a wild world. One test I ran I spent $50.00 and got zero results. Another test I ran I spent $10.00 and got $19.40 (still running that test hah!). You have to be diligent in your keystroking, your monitoring, and your spending; one tiny error with the keyboard or mouse and the entire budget can be lost. i.e. you run an ad in Kuwait instead of the UAE and all the money is gone overnight... easy to do... believe me!

What the lower half of this string is referring to is Location Based Services (LBS). I am not an expert in these but saw a presentation from a guy who is...
Alistair Goodman of PlaceCast gave a presentation to the Mobile Heartland Council last month here in Chicago. Frankly the service is scary cool. They work with, among others, Northface.

Here's the example he gave: If I'm subscribed to Northface SMS LBS service and I am walking nearby their store (within their garden wall) I will get a text message from them saying something like: "come in and check out the new sleeping bag. it's in aisle 24 and it's on sale. show this at checkout to get coupon."..... something like that. Alistair said the open rates are sky high and the coupon redemption rates are super high as well. Pretty successful offering.

Good luck and I'd love to hear from others trying this as well.

What we are developing will be based on Location Based as well.

We will display coupons based solely on the user preferences. Yes, this will make the advertiser's job a little more difficult, but it will serve the user a lot better in the whole and keep them on the system.

That's all I'm releasing at the moment. See you all soon!!!

We have tried pretty much every solution to market B2B for our SMS service. The highest success rate is face to face.

We have done this through trade shows and door to door. Restaurant related trade shows expose your business to thousands of potential clients and if you are able to bring out the pain and offer your product as a solution in 2 minutes, they will work.

At a few this year there were other offline marketers offering website design and SEO. They were at the show alone, meaning no other competing booths. This company had people lined up to find out where their site ranked and how to improve it. It was the same at a few shows for SMS marketing but I know next years there will be more competition at the shows.

Our sales reps work face to face for the highest success also. We have tried direct mail, email, cold calling etc... but it doesn't lend itself to the same opportunity to really "bring out the pain" in their current marketing and offer SMS as a solution.

We do get leads from organic search but the highest conversions from free trial signup to paying customer is face to face.

        -Shane

PS- If anyone has a mobile website company, please PM me. Looking for a solution to bundle with ours. Thanks.

I've decided to focus on mobile site design and plan to JV with others who already sell to local businesses (web designers, local newspapers and ad mags etc...)

My plan is to use a service like mobisitegalore to design and host. I'll charge a $200 or so setup fee and pay most of that to "affiliates" - then charge $1/Day ($30/month) ongoing for hosting.

Of course SMS and/or marketing is a natural addition to someone who buys a mobile website from me and I'll upsell as many services as I can.

    Cheers,

    Steve

I tried that Mobile Monopoly plan too. Waste of money. First he talks about a 5 billion market but later that descends to 50 million. 435 clicks on "Proven Campaign" zero sales.
    That's lousy ROI
He may have done well but now selling the info - always a bad sign.

98% of the time I am right, why worry about the other 3%?
