Subject lines for video website reviews

Hey guys,
I'm just getting started using Jing to create video reviews of local businesses websites and sending them an email with the video. Are any of you offline Warriors doing this and if so, what are you putting in the subject line to get them to open it up? My goal is to land some SEO clients and help them rank in Google. I am targeting businesses who are already spending money on PPC, but aren't showing up in the organic searches.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

    Hi Kathy,

    I am just trying video site reviews out, and have decided to pre-qualify with a quick phone call first. Something along the lines of...

    "Hi, my name is [name] from [company name]. We are sending out free video web site reviews to local [business type], and I just wanted to check I have the correct email address.

    Are you the person to receive this? OK [collect name/email address for them or alternative]

    Do you get a lot of enquiries from your website by the way? OK, well maybe the review will throw some light on why that is...

    Thanks for your time, you will be receiving the email with a link to the video with in the next [#] days - in the meantime, if you have any questions please give me a call on [#### #####]"

    I thought I could then use the subject line of "Your video web site review as promised"

    Will let you know how this goes...

    How about titling it "problem with your website" or something like that will get it opened. It always make me open mine.

      Hey Kathy, Im definitely going to be trying this out in the next few days. Good thinking as far as who you are targeting! That way you know they are at least spending money for online ads. As far as subject lines that make people open the email, I like "Problem with your website" as well. It definitely grabs your attention.

      The pre qualifying is probably the best approach though. That way they are expecting the email and if they arent interested they will tell you on the phone so you dont waste your time making a video for them.

        Yes, pre qualifying does make sense, although I learned of another method listening to a webinar recently. It was to send a link that doesn't work and then say "if there's a problem with the link please let me know" or something like that. Then the people who are interested will get in touch. Then you make the video and send them the correct link! I will be using Jing to make the videos, so you just take part of the link out so it still sends them to a screencast site, so they know it's supposed to be a video!

          WOW! Very clever I think Im going to use this, as warm leads Im ok with but I hate "cold calling" even if it is just to ask if they want a free video lol. I will definitely let you know how if goes. Keep us updated with your progress as well!

          Interesting strategy! My only issue with that is that by sending a bad link you don't want a prospective customer to think you can't get to grips with the technology! Like all of these things - try it and measure your results

          adriver38 - I don't like cold calling either so I have drafted in my daughter to make the calls (she used to work in telesales)

    While it might not directly apply to the "video website review" angle, using something like: "Looking for a dentist in yourtown", "i need a a plumber in yourtown", etc.

    You could approach things like "Hi there, I'm doing some media distribution/exposure research on dentists in your area. As part of this research, I am reviewing local dentists websites......"

    Just an idea that will at least invoke some curiousity...

    The Fedex way holds much greater value and urgency. Busy business people easily pass by "email" offers.
    Ghetto method: 1-Use US Mail Prioity (much cheaper has big envelope)
    2-Package with Fedex but being local, drop it off yourself no charge ;-)

      LOL!!! This kind of thinking can make you a millionaire! As a matter of fact, you could hire an unemployed guy to hand deliver those to 20 local dentist for $20 cash! Just drive him from one place to another...

        I personally did not get any response with the "broken link" method in the email. I was sending mostly to dentists, so they might have gotten stuck at the gatekeeper phase.

        I am working now on doing faster videos.

        I spoke with a guy from London who does videos for people on page 3 and 4 of Google, then calls them in 3 hours after he sends the video. He says he gets a 40% closing ratio and they like the personalized approach.

    If you are doing a video review; I think it would be best to send them an email and wait for a response first; you can call too as suggested above.

    You don't want to spend an hour making a video and them not even opening it!
