    Well actually it's just white pages, which makes a lot of sense.

    But if you'll do some digging around, you'll find some marketing surveys that show that usage of Yellow Pages has actually stabilized.

    I still have ads for my brick and mortar business and pay about $ 700 monthly.....pretty funny knowing what I also do online but, I would never drop these ads.

    The Yellow Pages seem like such an outdated antiquity to me, and I can't even remember the last time I saw one. There are probably still certain markets out there where it still does its intended job, though.

    Account Execs nationwide working for yellow page groups have really beefed up their approach. They are double saturating their markets interms of manpower and diversifying the services they are actually selling, i.e. web advertising, SEO services in addition to print ads in their books. THis will account for what seems to be a stabilization in this industry. However, print ad sales are still lower than ever and outside of restaurants, taxi cabs and yes, plumbing companies, the ROI for consumers is very low. I advise all of my clients outside of these industries to save their ad dollars. However, if a general listing of just name, address and number, maybe url is offered at a reasonable rate, it may be a break even prospect to go ahead, but definitely not purchase display ads. I also advise that clients make sure they do have a current and accurate white page listing.

        Google Vs Yellow Pages New Survey

    I think the answer is pretty obvious, and the majority of consumers just don't look for businesses in the Yellow Pages anymore. I can't even remember the last time I did...actually, now that I think about it the last time I had to refer to the Yellow Pages was when I was locked out of my house 3 years ago and I was somehow able to get a hold of one (don't quite remember exactly where I got it though) to find an emergency 24 hour locksmith to call! LOL....I suppose it would behoove "emergency" service providers like locksmiths and plumbers to maintain their listings in the Yellow Pages!

    I think the yellow pages can be useful but people have gotten away from taking the time to review for what they are looking for. It is much more convenient to pull out a cell phone and search for whatever it is you need.

    This is just for my area in the PNW, but the yellow book also offers the exact same services here as many offliners to small business owners, the pricing may simply be higher. Old habits are hard to break for some business owners, look at the popularity of Intuit's site building program.

    No, I may not pay $30+ a month for a generic website nor would you but the name recognition (think Quickbooks which is on many small business computers) and you'll understand why the Yellow pages isn't going out of business any time soon.

    With that said, I have one for each of the counties in my area and one huge bugger that covers the Western part of my state. Do I use it? You betcha because say what you want - there's money in them thar pages

    This is a good example! My friend has the droid, all he does is say 'Little Ceasars Pizza', and the damn thing within seconds brings up the local 2 stores with numbers, website links, etc. way faster then ever looking them up. I think that the books are old news.

    Yes, I heard they did away with the white pages . I been reading all the comments, and actually all are pretty good. I would have to say that although I personally don't use the yellow pages that often, I do however need them occasionally to look for a certain business. Also, many individuals we may be unaware of dont use the computer as we do. So , it is still needed by many people.
