Interesting read. I was reading something the other day that spoke about microformats becoming more prevalent, which would tie into citations, too. Of course now that Google is testing different formats for local listings it is hard to say how this will all pan out. It does seem to suggest that microformats and location citations may actually help boost the listings.

I'd be interested to hear others thoughts on this, also.

    • I would suggest that the WF contractors on here start applying these new methods to 'local' seo work. They could put packages together for warriors like us , who need it for local seo work.

      citations
      local blog comments

Just having 1,000 backlinks will not be enough.

      Just my opinion.

    Hi

The only challenge with the link in this post is that it sends us to an article that's more than 2 years old.

While conceptually it still has merit the fact remains that Google have made 100's and 100's of changes since the article came out.

Not to mention the most recent ones that appear to have merged the Google Places and local organic listings.

    regards

  • I wasnt aware of the date on the post. Although I still think it will offer some good info to warriors here. It does make some really good points on links and citations.

He had some other links within that blog that were interesting as well.

Maybe its useful, maybe its not....

      Hi Tommy

In some cases the age of the post doesn't mean too much but when it comes to Google Places and citations thats a different story especially since the big changes to local search a couple of weeks back.

He's is a pretty clever guy and its likely he will pop up with a newer perspective on this subject pretty soon as he is one of the better sources of info regards Google Places.

      Regards
