Do you guys have a call to action on your business cards or any other marketing device?

Or just a straight up name, contact details etc in the traditional sense.

I'm designing mine now and wasn't sure if a call to action to go to a website for a free report was a bit cheesy on a business card.

I'm a bit of a traditionalist and prefer the front of the card to have just my contact info. You might want to add a call to action to the back of your card. Or, in the true spirit of analytics get two sets and see if the call to action works for you! Try them out in different environments.

    My call to action is,

Don't call me unless you really need to. THX

But I only give business cards to my clients, the rest don't deserve them. = )

      PS: I was serious btw.

I did think however that my reply would provoke some one to ask why.

Yes most people just have their info on the front but if you wish to have something on the back then go for it as you can't do any harm (unless of course your being offensive)

I use two types of cards for two purposes. A lead generating card that is plain jane on canary yellow cardstock, has a headline, offer, call to action, etc. that might go on bulletin boards, business card displays etc. and a basic contact info card for existing clients.

I've also used business cards for my referral system.

I've generated a good amount of business with both the lead generating and referral cards. I've got a draft of an SEO lead generating card I can show you if you're interested.

I do have a call to action at the back of my card which describes the services I provide.
It goes something like: We do this and this... visit xxx for more info...

Why? Because I think contact information alone will not tell people what you'll actually do for them.
I consider my business card a mini brochure.

We have 2 Business card styles...

One we use with just our names and contact details... these are handy for when getting to know someone without throwing a business opp or product at them...

The second one we have details about signing up to our newsletter and our basic business and service information...

One side of mine had the contact info.

and the other side is my call-to-action (at at least its a call to action, LOL), my domain name.. so they can just type it up on their spare.. This idea was inspired by reading while back on upstartblogger (when ashley morgan was blogging.. he was designing his card, etc.)

Any promotional item is the best place for a call to action in my opinion.

Offer a FREE Report if you do X, Y, or Z.

Spend the extra $10 and print the CTA on the back of the card - be creative.

      Just My Opinion...

      Best of luck!

I think business cards need to have in writing or picture, the type of business you are in, otherwise people forget if it just has your name and contact number!

    name of business
    name and title
    number
    email

then other side your website main url and maybe a slogan

That's the perfect card, and vistaprint is perfect for this! Cheap and good quality, however they spam the heck out of you with their offers every day!

My advice is to maximise every single space including the reverse of the card. I list the range of services I offer.

If you have a LinkedIn profile make sure you put that on there too, especially if you have lots of recommendations on your profile - this alone will help you to win new customers/business.

Finally, all of the corners on my card are rounded. This helps people to easily find mine when its in a pile of the usual all square ones!

I am very aggressive with my business card marketing. They are extremely cheap and massively powerful. I now have 6 different cards. Each one speaks to a different industry, and offers a relevant promo, shocking statistic or clever quote.

I craft my cards with the idea that they are going to kick the crap out of my competitors business cards, when 4 months from now, my prospect is sitting there with a need, and looking at several cards deciding who to call, or call first.

Business cards should make them understand that you are the clear choice....and quite frankly....your name, pretty logo and contact information have very little to do with that.

The one thing that makes me laugh is all those people that hand me a business card, and it has a vistaprint logo on the back. They feel great about the fact they got free business card. However I can only conclude I'm dealing with a cheapo.....in which case I don't really want to give my money to some one who cuts corners or lacks a high level of professionalism...or that they are really just starting out and can't afford cards...and again I'm reluctant to trust my money to a noobie.

People are so focused on "where can I get the cheapest business cards?" but the most important question they should be asking is "What does my competitors business card look like?"

Cuz if his is better than yours...you lose.

Always put a call to action if you expect people to take one.

It doesn't matter if you're just linking to something in the signature of your emails or if it's a business card. If you want action, ask for it. - Tony Darrick Baker

I have my guarantee on the back of my cards, on my letter head and email signature.

I only give my cards out when I am meeting a client (a warm lead) face to face, however most of my deals are done using the phone and a courier.

Because I use a proven system for getting new targeted clients, I have researched there business before I approach them via courier (approach letter followed by phone call two days later). There is no need for me to hand out my cards to every Tom, Dick and Harry.

simple design, this is how most businesses do it and they seem to be doing fine.

No need for the crazy, "my business card? Here's a seo book i wrote (more like PLR), I'm sure you'll be able to carry this around in your pocket with you everywhere."

          What a stupid gimmick.

Mine are pretty plain as well. A face pix, logo and contact information is about it.
Now I'm thinking about new cards with some sort of call to action on the back.
