Balancing Full-time job with Offline Consulting?

I'm looking for some advice on how to balance my full-time job with Offline consulting - specifically when it comes to meeting with owners. In your experience, are owners generally flexible when it comes to getting together -- ie weekends or late evenings? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

    It really depends on the type of business and the individual owner. If you are dealing with say real estate agents, they pretty much will meet anytime. If you are dealing with a restaurant owner, they will generally not meet in the evenings or the weekend because that is when they are the most busy.

    Some attorneys and doctors are happy to meet in the evening, but others work 9-5 and that is it.

    How flexible is your job with vacation time? That is the other option. Take a few days off now and then and book them up with appointments. That or get a partner.

    Try and meet them in the evenings and make sure you take a little nap before you head out to pitch them.

    Its not going to be easy but you can make it happen if you have the drive.

      Rus gave us the same advice he gave you about meeting late afternoon or early evening.

      It's good advice - and it works.

      Most business owners work longer than the people they employ and they naturally think you do too.

    Balancing Offline marketing with a full time job is not the easiest thing but it is definitely do-able. Right now I am working full time and I am getting my offline business off the ground. It helps because my girlfriend is also my business partner so we share the responsibility.

    I just wanted to ask the question about which area you are going to focus on? It is one thing to coordinate the meeting times with owners. You can always get together but the most important part is knowing what you can provide for the business. Because unless you are going to be outsourcing everything you will also need time to get the work done to deliver on your promise to the business owner. Knowing this ahead of time really helps. Once you know what you can deliver you can convince the business owner to meet. They will be completely compelled if you give them a good pitch. I have met with people from all different niches in the mornings afternoon and evenings. Before work, on a lunch break or after my shift. Meet whenever they can.

    Im in the same boat for the last year now trying to figure out how to make it happen between getting up and ready with traffic I am tied up from 6am to 6pm plus I have kids that say I don't pay attention to anything but the computer so I'm torn and ready to give up. After all the whole reason I'm trying to do this is to have more time for me and my family.
    One thing that definitely genius and makes sense is to first deciding what your target is after? In other words Sales 101 whose you customer and what are their needs? You going to go after web design, seo, video, pick 1 to specialize in at first and pretend you just got your first client now what do you do? Where can you meet people needing your services after hours. Will you use Pull or Push Marketing methods. Pull is easier in my opinion becasue that means you offering something that pulls them to you aka no cold calling instead use an advert in the local paper or radio spots etc... or find noncompeting businesses that will promote you if you give them something in exchange for a lead or sale.

        Yes we have had many members at offlinebiz.com who had full time jobs starting out.

        The fact that you're NOT available at any time of night or day is a plus if you use it to build posture.

        In other words when you're booking an appointment you say "Like you I'm very busy. I can get together with you on Thursday but it will have to be in the evening after 6pm."

        This kind of statement gives the impression that you're highly in demand.

        Meeting outside of business hours is something many business owners are okay with.

        You'll find a lot are happy to meet before regular opening hours too (they're often in their business doing various things before they open).

    I got my friend to do the selling (I'm training him) While I do the backend work.

    I pay him a commission.

    Find a friend/college student and train them to sell/pitch for you.
