Ever Tried A Video Intro?

Just wondering if anyone has ever tried a personalized video introduction via email instead of a letter? I don't mean a long vid, I mean like a 60-90 second video introducing yourself...well basically saying the same stuff that would be in your initial letter to them. I wonder how that'd convert?

Food for thought. I may just try it. Been toying with the idea.

I'm starting fresh with a new town next week, and planning to have a video on the site offering my services.

There is a great free offline video which I'm going to edit into it (go look in the WSO's )

Perfect promo for getting offline clients.

I also just got a really nifty intro clip with my logo on it.

If there is any money in this new town, I'm gonna find it! Muuhaww hawww haw haw

I cant help but think it would convert better...way better. Actually I'm counting on it; I've done a few "practice" videos for my new offline campaign.

I'm just using Jing (free up to 5 minutes of video at a time) to screen capture myself. That way I can show them their site via my video and "critique" it, show them an example of what their site could look/preform like. The key is in the subject line, something like "a video review of your site". I mean, I know I'd open that email!

Yeah I think video has a ton of potential and is still fresh enough to really differentiate yourself, especially to "local" clients.

    Hi Lisa

    Yeah great idea.

Only challenge is that sometimes videos won't play - which could be a tad embarassing.

Maybe a link to a video with a compelling curiosity based message.

    Regards

Adam got it right. Why just send a sales video? Just do a promo over-view describing the need and your big promise and who you are then go to their website and point out what their problems are, what could be possible and translate what it means to them.

Some say you should Fed Ex it to them. I'm not convinced this is needed. Priority mail will work just as well. (the big envelope is the key, not the carrier.)

  • ok.. here we go.

Now, I got an email capture software. So I can get just about anyones email if I want it. I like this idea of an email with a video. Or as above mentioned should a person mail out a bunch of discs to businesses (owner's eyes only) and then hope that they play it and get interested. I would have to think I would play a disc that came to me in the mail, but then there is the issue of a virus on the cd.

But, I would definately agree that the conversions would be MUCH higher, then a standard email. I was thinking of first using an email with a link to my video on youtube introducing myself and showcasing on my computer screen some examples of what I have done for biz A and biz C.

I think it could be a bit expensive to start mailing out dvds

I do have a place that will make my dvd's with cover and case for .99 cents. Connection of mine from the Internet Marketing days.

so, 1 dollar for the dvd, and priority mail anywhere in the U.S. is about $ 5.50 shipped. $6.50 total per lead.. kinda high. If I were to do that, I would also put in my biz card and anything else I could mail for under 16 oz.

With my email scraper I can have html coding and everything in the email. so I would maybe test that first. Also there is an automatic label creator with the system, loads the addys into the labels and prints right from there. So , maybe you could type up each letter personally and send them out, $1.00 investment.
