What are the keys to great sales letter?

What are the keys to creating a solid sales letter? I have a good understanding of what one is now and the general information included, but what sets a good sales letter and a great sales letter apart?

    I always focus of these key factors:

    1- Know your customer and their pains and desires.
    2- Create a Unique solution
    3- Convey it all in your headline
    4- Show proof of yourself and your solution
    5 - Command an action be taken.

    What separates a good sales letter from a great one I believe is the Headline that is unique, benefit rich, with a big promise and having good eye catching transitions between paragraphs. You must create a flow in your writing that takes them to the purchase by building desire.

    Every potential customer you meet will want to know one thing "Can you get me more customers?". If you show him you can, you can close any deal.

    I would recommend the copywriting subforum here in warriorforum just because this has been covered many times and copywriters will also give responses too.

      This is a sophisticated, proven online sales letter format you can use...

      1. Prehead

      2. Headline (Usually red 20 point Tahoma or something similar)

      3. Subheadline

      4. Photo ("action" photos will usually get a higher response and captions will a call to action can dramatically increase response)

      5. Opening line with large dropcap

      6. Story or very compelling opening paragraphs

      These first 6 components to a sales letter are vital. Split testing changes to these will usually bring you the greatest response.

      7. Introduce the credibility of your speaker (this could be anywhere in the copy but it is vital).

      8. Establish your prospect's desperate need for your product (also could be anywhere)

      9. Introduce your product or service as a solution

      10.Bullets (write your bullets first)

      11.Testimonials to support bullets

      12.Bonuses

      13.Establish value by comparing your product's price to other higher priced options

      14.Compelling guarantee

      15.Call to action

      16. P.S. with another compelling reason to act now.

      17. P.P.S. you can use for additional testimonials.


      In it's simplest form a sales letter should include:

      # A compelling headline.

      # A good argument that persuades your prospect to buy.

      # A clear call to action...telling your prospect exactly how to buy and what will happen when they do.


      One of the biggest keys to writing an effective sales letter is to get to know your prospect...his wants, needs and desires...and to get to know your product in depth before you write the sales letter (writing the bullets for a sales letter as the first writing step can help with this.)
