As I am rapidly approaching the cold calling section of my action plan. I'm wondering where other fellow warriors have seen success. I'm guessing this can be kind of random though, have you found one niche is more profitable than another? I was thinking of approaching attorneys in my area for a start. Going after the ones who do not even have websites yet. Though, I am hesitant as they probably have a mind-set that they don't need a site, etc. How do you convince an old laywer that he needs to change the way he does things after 20 something years of practicing?

So, should I go after painters? Bars? Restraunts? What about private practice doctors? Should I just open the yellow pages and go from there? Thanks for any input you guys are willing to offer.

My faves are attorney's I have heard others say they didnt have that great of luck with them ... but if you leave a real vague message they will almost always call you back, plus they are keen to setting appointments with people because thats how they make their living. Its almost a natural reflex for them to say "yes, Im gonna put you through to my secretary and she will shedule you in".

I also have good luck with beauty shops.... Auto body shops... lots of good niches... Personally attorneys are my fave though. It wont take you long to find out who you vibe with.

Another reason I like attorneys is because you dont have to sell too hard...they just want the facts and they arent as suspicious because they know that YOU know, that if you screw them you're a dead man in court! They arent as afraid to give you money.

Lastly, its easy for them to see how just a few extra clients can bring profit.... they only need a few clients to make alot more than they spent. So they are easy to show the benefit to, and their needs are simple. No bells and whistles, just need somebody to fill out the form and schedule a free consultation...nothin fancy, just direct people to the consultation form do not pass go.

I like the no bs kind of customers.

Honestly it all depends on you and what type of customer you want to have, and who you can connect with.

Example John likes lawyers, I on the other hand like to deal with real estate agents.
I deal with them because I've been in the industry (never an agent) but I know it enough that I can talk shop with them, know the struggles, etc.

Put me with a lawyer and I couldn't relate to them. - But that's just me.

I am still struggling finding a good niche to target.
I do not think that lawyers would work with me nor real estates as I have never been in the industry.

Will continue searching .... there is sure to be a niche that will work well with my skills and personality.

I do agree with you. Though, I think there are plenty of niches who would work with you - regardless of the knowledge you have about their profession. I am going to go after attorneys myself and I have little experience in that field. Though, I am not selling them on what I know about "their" profession. I am selling them on what I can do for them and how my knowledge will increase their revenue.

I mean. Attorneys use Physicians on a regular basis. I doubt many of them would feel comfortable attempting to diagnose one of their clients. We're all professionals here and we have something just as valuable if not more to offer these people.

You don't really need to be in the industry to be able to offer these guys a good service.

What is the best way to approach the attorneys about the services you are offering?

My major niches are large professional firms such as lawyers, hospitals, medical clinics, real estate and accounting. Cold call to set up a short 15-30 minute max appointment to make a presentation or demonstrate your product. You have to be able to use their language or lingo to show very quickly that you understand their industry and that you've got the best solutions(s) they need. That applies to every business you approach, actually.
