Takin it to the Streets!

I'm hitting the streets for the first time next week, and I have a couple questions. I have 30 years of professional sales experience so I have no problem with talking to the janitor to the governor. I'm not feeling quite comfortable with the numbers in my presentation.

I know the demographics are different everywhere, but I want to be able to back up what I promise. Would you all be able to share the average prospects delivered in doing your job in a few different types of service niches, ie, dentist vs plumbers...lawyers vs accountants.

The people I sell my service to will surely want to know approximately how many leads they are going to get per week, per month to justify hiring me. Surely there is a general mathematic equation used to get fairly close on what results they can expect as long as I do my job.

Something like this..#of leads, # of sales from those leads, equaling a gross amount of revenue therefore justifying my fee. I know in my fact finding to ask as many questions as possible including (if they know) how much each client or customer is worth to them. Plumbers and Dentists are going to be different figures for customer worth.

I live in a county of 64,483 in Missouri and the town I live in is 20,000 plus, so I have to make every call count, in fact Im going in person.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks in advance,
Tony

theres a calc in my sig that you can get for free (at the moment) that may help with that / best of luck taking it to the street.

I think and this is my opinion you'd be better off selling Positioning instead of leads.

Seeing that your county is less then 100k people its far better for a business owner to position themselves as the expert in the community.

This will attract people to the business naturally.

I agree with this. But don't just position....Dominate.
It also depends upon your selling points.
My services pay for themselves by the client obtaining one to two new customers. Any additional is profit to the business owner.
Also, I don't have any contracts or commitments. If I can't deliver something of value to you, why would you keep paying me.
This usually ends any questions like that.

I couldn't agree more. Guaranteeing a certain number of leads or a specific position on Google could get you in a very tight spot, so even if you're promising an increase in business due to additional leads I'd not guarantee any specific metrics.

Positioning yourself as the expert is far more important, because in a smaller county like yours it'll not take long for word of mouth and referrals to get you more clients than you can possibly handle by yourself.

Sweet awesome! I just ordered some stuff from vistaprint, and got some quotes and samples from some better bigger places including custom USB drives! Great for contests and such... New business cards, the whole package, printing stuff at home here tonight as well, and for Christmas.

    Good luck Tony,

Always good to see another Missouri warrior showing their face. Let me know if you have any questions, I'd be glad to give you a hand. I just recently started up my off-line venture and have had quite a bit of success thus far.
