NO BACKLINKS! How I Got The #1 Listing in Google for a 3 Million Results Keyword Phrase.

Hey Offline Warriors...

Ok...the key word phrase: offline marketing strategies

(Site offlinemarketingstrategies dot net)

[offline marketing strategies] WITHOUT " " quotes = 547,000 results.

Now here's the weird part... WITH quotes = 3,260,000 results.

Typically, when you ADD " " quotes to a phrase, the number of search results go DOWN.

But not with this keyword phrase. (Would anyone want to explain WHY)

Now, how did I get it to #1 -- WITH NO BACKLINKS! (I'm looking for 3 answers.)

I'm taking what I learned from this simple example and ranking websites first-page
on Google for local busnesses. (Will explain more later.)

Basically because no one really is going after this keyword phrase.

Do the search for allintitle and you have roughly 13 people with that as the title of their page.

I don't really believe the allinanchor results.

So my answer is basically no one else really wants it.

So if that's the case, all you have to do is three things(as your blog post attests).

Get the keywords in the domain name.
Get the keywords in the Title Tag.
Get the keywords in an H1 Tag.

Anyone can rank 1 phrase that way. But what happens if you mismatch plural/singular, position of the words, etc? "offline marketing strategy" isn't in Top 100.

Plus finally "offline" really is a made up term, it's only used here on WF. If you go into a plumbers office and tell them you specialize in offline marketing, he's going to look at you like you're an idiot. It's not descriptive of what we really do. We're really Internet Marketing Small Business Experts, or something like that.

          NOPE.

Nobody is interested? Would Google's search engine make it available, if there was no interest in it? (see below)

"offline marketing strategy" isn't in Top 100. .... True, that's why i chose 'offline marketing strategies'

true, the outside world doesn't use that term but again, this is an example... however, you can use the same principle for in-demand keyword phrases.

    Ok. Just looked at it.

You used your own domain for wordpress.com. I'm pretty sure it creates a redirect of the one you created for wordpress.com to your OFFLINE Marketing Strategies | Local OFFLINE Consultants | Marketing For The Offline Consulting Pro so you're harnessing wordpress.com backlinks.

Btw, you have 23 backlinks now, hooray!

One reason is the term is not that competitive. If you search with the following operators

intitle:"offline marketing strategies" inurl:"offline marketing strategies"

you get a little more than 4k competing websites.

A decently optimized website can rank well especially if it's a relatively new site because of QDF or "Query deserves freshness".

    Matt cutts explains this here.

If you don't mind me asking, how new is your site?

I got it May 2010... I love the comments. It's because it's "NEW"... "(Query deserves freshness")..and, it's because it's "OLD".

It's been #1 before ANY backlinks for like 6 months.

    Basically, I think it's because
    1) The muscle of WordPress
2)Get the keywords in the domain name.
3)Get the keywords in the Title Tag.
4)Get the keywords in an H1 Tag.

MRomeo09 was right...but not about the lack of "interest")

Point being, even with an UGLY blog -- given the right domain name in a not to competitive market -- you too should be able to do it. (Why pick a super-competitive market?)
