Newbie looking for a little bit of advice!

Hi,

Like many people that visit this forum I am a newbie. This is my first post and will definitely not be my last!

I was recently introduced to the possibility of making money on the internet and have been looking into it over the past few weeks. I hope in the next few days to have a Wordpress blog on-line with a couple of Amazon products on it with my affiliate links embedded. I have written a couple of articles and will upload them to Ezine Articles this week in the hope that I get some traffic.

This has been a useful exercise as I am learning a lot 'by doing' and what's more, I'm really, really enjoying it. That said I would like to know that I am using my time effectively and so I have a question for those that have moved past the newbie stage and are having some success:

What in your view is the best way for a newbie to start making money on the internet that has a simple guide available for the newbie to follow?

I dont care if it does not make a lot of money to start with. I see this a baby step, something to build on going forward. I am really interested in proving to myself that it is possible to make a living in the internet so if you could give me some help with this I would be very grateful.

I understand that there is a long term learning curve associated with IM and I am not looking for shortcuts. I am willing to work hard at it. I am really enjoying reading and learning the basics and I am willing to put in the time to become successful. What I need for now though is a little bit of direction, a kick start so I avoid becomming disillusioned due to lack of success.

Help!!!

Donna

i think this might be posted in the wrong section. if you had posted in the main forum you might get more reply. unless you want to start an offline marketing biz...

i think to start from scratch and to see some cash flow...however small. its best to get into affiliate marketing or learning and provided a service like writing articles....doing voice overs....video editing...installing wordpress...

if you want i can send you a few things that might give you a few options...i wont try to sell you anything.

    goodluck

Writing articles and affiliate marketing are great starters. Also, job bidding sites like Guru and oDesk are great places to start finding writing clients; the immediate income potential for article writing is far better than for affiliate marketing unless you already have a huge opt-in mailing list.

You can go to Get Ready To EXPLODE Your Writing Revenue! to get free tips on how to start building an article portfolio without previous writing experience.

      Good luck!

      Peace, love, happiness, and prosperity,

learn ONE thing and offer it as a service; it can be to people on the WF and to offline businesses

start with a service before you go right into trying to make a business; then learn the trade well and progress to a FT IM business

A voiceover is where you use your voice in a video... Like a narrator

It would help if you shared with us what skills and background you have.

      Are you a good writer?

Do you like high tech stuff?

Are you good at dealing with people?

What industries have you worked in?

Have you ever run your own business or have any background in the business world?

      Kindest regards,

        Andrew,

        Are you a good writer?
I'm getting better at writing articles since i have started. I never thought i could ever write a full article but found myself writing at least 6 in the one day.

Do you like high tech stuff?
I wouldnt exactly be good at high tech, although i am a quick learner.

Are you good at dealing with people?
I am a professional make up artist by trade and have always only ever dealt with clients face to face so this is all very new.

What industries have you worked in?
Like I said I have been working as a makeup artist the past few years so i have a huge interest in costmetics, anything artistic and fashion and costume.

Have you ever run your own business or have any background in the business world?
Through working freelance as a makeup artist i found my feet in the business world but i have so much to learn about it and i continue to learn everyday.

I started reading up on IM just out of general interest and found that i wanted to give more of my time to it than anything else i have done in the past. So thats what has lead me here.

If you are just trying to get something going online to start...

Then articles, blogs, videos, and press releases can be powerful if you make them search engine friendly and have direct response marketing in your messages. People then will see on google if done right and through social media sources.

Then when you get your own site, start capturing leads with an autoresponder...follow up with value...and then use offers or x to get people to request things to their offline address and then communicate online and offline. Hope that helps.

It sounds like you did the right things to get started. I would advice you to use some social bookmarking sites to bookmark your articles. This will help the search engines find your articles. You can do this through ping.fm.
You can also tweet about your articles and share your articles on relevant Facebook pages/groups.
The above will help you generate traffic to your articles/affiliate products.

If make up artist is your passion or skill, pursue learning internet marketing through that venue. Maybe make your blog about that, teaching that, start collecting an email list by giving away a brief makeup tip list if they sign up with your list.

Never stop building a list. Ever. )

When you start recommending products as an expert, people will listen and buy.

          Hope that helps.

The best thing you are doing is asking questions, so you are doing the right things so far, Donna.

I like the tone of your post there donna. It sounds like you a mindset that is aware of that making money online is not a get rich quick thing. Baby steps is exactly the keyword.

I agree with teaball that you should leverage on your expertise, in this case makeup. Actually, makeup has been proven to be quite a lucrative niche by a few IMer's I know. Try setup you own website, and then learn to integrate various traffic sources to drive visitors to your website. Right there you have learnt the most important skills in IM, setting up your offer and bringing in traffic. Then if you feel like it, scale up and branch out.

My piece of advise is to learn as much as you can. Get to know Wordpress so that you setup quick sites. Learn about onsite and Offsite SEO and about back linking. If you know these stuff, you can start to commercialize your knowledge by doing some clickbank products. this is the quickest way to make some cash.

My experience with clickbank is that you could put something together within a month if you know the above and start making some money monthly, and then you can learn further.

              I hope this helps.

How about getting involved with a system that has done most of the legwork for you including producing a blog. Take a look at Stone Evans PIPS site which I stumbled upon. I am very happy with it and I am not saying that just so you join under me.....join any way you want. Good Luck.
