Google Places - Newbie Questions

Hi:

I have recently started a SEO Offline business that is doing ok from recomendations from other customers. I was thinking about adding Google Places as an offering. My thought was to contact local businesses and offer a "I will get you a first page listing on Google Places or you pay nothing" approach. Once they were a customer I would try to upsell other services.

Has anyone tried this approach with Google Places and if so, how much do you charge?

Guarantees are a good way of getting new customers. However, I would make sure they pay first. If you can not deliver, then you offer a refund. This will keep you from doing work for clients who may not have the ability to pay.

I agree that you should also provide the client with a bit more confidence in your services. If you say "pay nothing" then you aren't going to attract the best type of customers generally speaking from experience. You have two things that you need to weigh in your mind. 1. What is the real value of what I am offering my clients 2. What is the "perceived" value that the client has of my services.

Something that costs you nothing often is perceived as nothing, or worthless. It also shows a lack of confidence in what you can do. Prime example, if you pitched someone $2000 a month, what would you think that the client would perceive? ie you know what you are doing but I may not want to pay you that much for it. It answers one question but not both. The same is true of doing the opposite.

      Hope it helps.

Charge a price you feel comfortable with (which will be too low), get some success, then start charging more. This is the natural cycle and that's ok.

I guess you can use this marketing method in the beginning to get yourself out there but in the long run you prob have to stay firm to your ground and charge them at a minimum price for your time. Tons of business with trouble out there.. good luck!

If you are going to put your time into this project, both you and the customer will be better off with you charging a fee.

The last thing you want is to be the guy people look for free stuff from.

    hello everyone,
    I'm Saytue, I think this is my 2nd post..hehe, I'm on a roll

Anyways, yes, I actually have a internet marketing business called "Get Found Online Solutions". My services are packaged as basic and premium, so there is not a specific price for just one thing.

However, if I did, I's probably charge ($150) half of what SEO companies charge ($250).

It's funny, because I got the whole idea from PotPieGirl. She is the bomb!!!!
