Go to bestjobs.ph You'll have tons of response with a simple ad, and the workers are excellent.

I would pay someone a higher wage like $12 per hour, instead of $6.00 per hour for forty hours, as alot of cheapo BPO's offer. This would afford me a competent person who could do the same amount of work in 15 -20 hours per week that a six dollar per hour person could do in 40, and they value their job more. Just a tip.

Very well said John. I"ve experienced this exact phenomenon several times, which has led me to use $10-$15 an hr US staff for less hours than $4-5 an hour Indian staff.

For linkbuilding, I use offshore, but that's it.

I looked into this before and asked TONS of questions to different VA companies.

Basically you are not getting someone full time during the hours they say. You will only get a certain amount of work out of them everyday and that is because they work for more than just you.

For a sad example most VA's that I tried to hire could only REWRITE 4-5 articles a day in a 8 hour period. Seriously?

I use oDesk and find the system very good. However you will not find one person that can do all the tasks. You will need to have several on your team.
Having said that, I should also mention that in my experience the VA's only do the work for you when they want to, or when they have time, this because they are working for many different clients at the same time.
I am currently paying around $3.00 p/hr for my workers but am considering finding just one or two workers, training them my way, and paying them a much higher hourly rate.

I have a VA that handles most of my tasks. Found her on Odesk. Interview lots of people and pick the one with the best feedback. I've found that I find the best people when I pick based on feedback rather than price. My Filipino lady is $3/hr, and there were certainly lower bids out there.

Apart from odesk.com, elance.com - you can also go to freelancer.com, project4hire.com or yourwebpa.com You can always post a job there and someone will pick it up.

You might want to give these guys a shot: TryBPO.com Outsourcing Solutions Simplified (I'm not affiliated - just have used them before; good service)

2 Americans (here's one of the founders: Joseph Magnotti, Internet Executive ) moved out to Davao, Philippines and run VA's. You get dedicated staff/individual, not a "shared" staff/individual.

If you want an alternative to ODesk (I also use Odesk), give Joe a call - they're on Skype and do good work.

I actually work at odesk , well through odesk at least. I started out as an article writer, turned into a VA within a few weeks, and now Im doing internet marketing for a company I am 100% loyal to.

With odesk you have to take the bad with the good. As an example, we were looking for people who would help us with our new site and help us in customer support once everything was in place, and I was the project manager. I literally looked through hundreds of profiles and It's true, most of the people working at odesk have at least 7 other projects running. This is because odesk allows contractors to apply for up to 20 jobs after passing the readiness test, and allow you to actually work for as many people as you see fit, provided you manage your time properly and get the job done.

I currently outsource all my SEO out in the Philippines.

As Rob Richards pointed out on his post, you can get VA through advertising on Manilla Craiglist.

I have been using outsourcers since July 2010 without any problems.

    Good luck.
