Mobile Phone Marketing

Hello, I might have missed this in the forums here, but is there a good program or software that markets to mobile phone users?

Here is what I mean: I was reading somewhere that Facebook had an ap for phones that rest.'s could send out coupon messages. So when a customer logs into their own app on the phone, it goes to 'local' on facebook and then the locals come up with their discounts for the day. People can then decide if they are interested and stop in, showing the coupon on the screen of the phone.

Can someone shed some light on this? Or is there another program that works for all phone users. I would imagine that sometime before you were able to capture their phone number on an optin form.

Is this mobile thing something I should be presenting to my clients.?

Absolutely you should be providing this service. I have been using a fully integrated provider callfire.com for my clients for about three years. It is currently moving forward with some advanced technology including not just SMS text marketing but also "Near Field Communication Technology" as well as others such as mobile phone payment solutions which are going to be hot in the next few months especially. As far as I know they will be the only fully integrated mobile retail shopping solution available (in the United States at least) that combines product information, coupons, customer loyalty and mobile payment into one experience. This will give customers complete shopping control directly from their mobile phones, while providing retailers and retaurants for example with a constant customer touch-point inside and outside the store or other retail environment.

No idea about others like callfire, but there are no shortage of SMS service providers out there. A quick google search will keep you busy for a while.

I've researched a lot of them, and most of them are very limited in offering variety in platforms and compatability with client service providers and well as emerging technology. My clients are scattered all across the country, and I just like having one source that works everywhere. If you're just looking for SMS, however, there are millions and millions of them. You can even set up your own service, but the learning curve is quite high. In addition there is a nice app from google (Google Goggles for Android 1.3, also there is a iPhone version) that quickly scans barcodes, QR codes, and even standard newspaper/magazine ads with immediate local search. This is a huge profit center for offline marketing.
