How Can I Merge Organic Listing With Places Listing?

I have got a page one ranking for a client for a keyword that also displays the places listings.

Any ideas on how I can get the first page organic ranking to be merged with the client's places listing and listed in the places box?

Thanks

Abul

I am not sure what you are asking but I will try to answer.
You can't put an organic listing in a spot designated for a places listing.
Places listings and Organic listings are two different things.
They can not be one, but they can work as one in an effort to help your client get more spots on the first page.

      Hussain,

That kinda happens automatically when the website and the places page refer to the same thing.

So if the address, and the website listing match up on places - Then I think it joins together.

Another thing I'm using is the Expand2Web Small Biz theme... so thats how I got this listing...(it allowed me to enter the address of the business into the homepage)

Whether a business gets noticed as a Places listing or a website through organic search, seems to depend upon the size of the market as well.

In some smaller markets, my clients have both GP and organic on page 1...in tougher markets only the Places listing.

Actually the new Place search merges the organic listing and the Places listing together and I believe that's what he's referring to.

If both the site and the Place page are optimized for the term, but Google is not merging the 2 then your client is likely missing localization hooks or data is off. Be sure name, address and phone is in the footer on every page of the site and is an EXACT match of the data on the Place page. Put that same info on the TOP of the contact us page in H1 or H3. Be sure they aren't using a different variation of the name or phone (like an 800) on the site. if they need an 800 #, have them put it on top of the site in a graphic, but have the local # that matches Places in the footer. Google has to be able to match up the data, and if she can't the listings won't merge.

I have just an organic ranking appearing on page one below the places listing.

However, I'd like to have a ranking on the places spot, if that makes sense?

In essence, I'm asking what can I do to get into the places listing? My website is optimised for an organic ranking and now I want it to appear alongside the places listing.

      Hi Abul,

This answer may be late as I've just joined and found this while searching. What you're looking at on the organic search results are maps listings in a "pack". To get in that pack you have to be on the first page of the maps listings. However, what is in the pack on the organic results may not show the same way on the maps.

A business may show in the D position in a 7-pack on the organics, but may appear above or below "D" on the maps. It all depends on the location of the searcher and the search query.

As stated by others, organic and maps are two different things. I do this for living and have clients showing on the first page of the maps, a spot in a "pack" on page 1 organic, as well as an organic listing under that. Being in a first page pack is just icing on the cake for having a page 1 maps listing.

A first page maps listing has to do with how your Google maps listing is optimized. A first page organic listing has to do with the SEO of your website.

Your website may be optimized for particular search term and appear on the first page of the organics, but your maps listing might not be optimized for that term. In this case you won't show on the maps even though you show up on the first page of the organic results.

      Hope this helps.

Again I believe he's talking about the new MERGED rankings. For most core KWs the organic listing and the Place page have been combined into one bigger listing ever since Oct 27th. So organic and maps are not 2 different things when it comes to the NEW MERGED algo.

Here's a picture of the merged layout both he and I are talking about.

You don't merge anything on your own. Google decides what to do and when to fo it. Just make sure your claimed places profile is optimized and the website URL on there matches your clients and continue with SEO on clients website.
