Forming An Offline Sales Team

I am looking to form a sales team to generate yard clean up jobs in my area. Any advice on how I should go about choosing my candidates?

Maybe some tasks that I should assign to further expand my earning potential.

I remember a guy who built his entire business by hiring the people who did landscaping for other companies when their guys weren't working. He actually hired the company and they sent the guys where he said needed work of a different nature. They had to keep the workers busy anyway so he only had to get the leads.

Basically I'm saying I'd find who would know about the yard clean up anyway and do a joint venture. There a LOT of very small companies that do mowing. Or whoever may already know who needs yard work. They may even be able to do your preselling for you for a finders fee.

    Just an idea

Joshua Hayes has a wonderful infoproduct on this subject. I cannot recommend it enough. I think its called Sales Team Success or something like that. It has about 12 hours of solid video plus all of the templates and scripts for job posting and interviewing, where to post the job offers.

Its a rock solid product that worked great for me. If it is still available I would look into it.

      This is a great product.
However, keep in mind that everything is tailored towards building a sales team to sell websites, and finding outsourcers to do the work. But the same functions in finding a sales team work much the same way.

Why don't you create a GP listing and rank it well for Spring Clean Up, or Lawn Clean Up, Or Yard Clean Up, or all of them?
You could also hire telemarketers to call consumers and offer an "Early Bird Discount" to people that act now.

To find regular sales people, post job ads in as many places as possible.
Online job directories, classified sites, college job boards, etc.

I didn't get many responses from my advertisement today. I think I will try to joint venture with some companies that are already within households. Plumbers, water restoration companies, pest control, handy man, house cleaners, etc are all great examples of companies that I can joint venture with.

Okay keep the great ideas coming

Hey! You're right! I googled him and finally found it. What I ran into at first was expensive and all under lock and key except for a video I think. Then somehow I found the Sales Success with some great free content plus an entire page of module contents and I thought oh no, this is going to be more than the first one - but I got the the bottom and almost didn't believe it so I kept staring at the words that said one-time only payment of $49.95 !!! Talk about the deal of the century so THANKS for mentioning that in this thread.

Working the JV angle should do wonders. There is nothing more successful than a referral.

Have you thought about "renting" an already established sales team?

If possible find some local business networking meetings in your area. You will be able to find at someone who can in the very lease direct you into finding someone who could point you in the right direction.

Thank you for all of your responses. I have received 5 candidates for sales. I am not sure what I should say to them though, when it comes down to getting them on the phone.

These folks are local, should I meet with them?

I would like to expand nationally as well, that would probably be the best time to conduct phone interviews.

Not sure how I should get these guys started though.

      Any advice?

You sound like me! That's where I get stumped too. Now what? If I were you I would email them an invitation to the Local Internet Cafe or The Radisson, Hilton or someplace like that with computer HI-FI and see which ones bring their laptops or ipads - that will tell you who likes computers the most.

Then just talk to them and see what happens!! Great plan, don't you think? Go with the flow is for dead fish so how about this? Courage is the dragon and his mouth holds the prize - tame the dragon and the prize is yours!!

How would you find a company to 'rent' callers from?
i just placed a craigllist ad for commission only callers-website selling-but
if the numbers work, a ready to go group would be far easier as long as i didnt need to pay them until after i get paid..........
