Ever been sold to for a credit card business on phone?

I get these calls a lot from credit card processing companies wanting me to cough up a couple hundred bucks to join. The hound me all the time. Had one lady tell me she didn't care about my financial status and just wanted me to buy.

They say you get commission on purchases? Is this true? How does this work?

    Yes, several times i got a calls like this.One of my friend working in the same domain told me about the commission they make when they convince any one on a phone to purchase the card.They are alloted some targets to achieve, for say, per month they have to sell 10 cards & they generate the commission on each sell around 15% of the actual sale.

      These are correct, they are working hard not just to earn their salary but to get commission. I also have a friend working in a credit card company who does call outs to positive leads, if employees don't meet what they call "metrics"(wherein they need to have a certain number of sales) in a period of time set to them, they will be most likely to be fired or transferred to a lower project
