How to promote your new blog?

Hi everyone,
I know it's not so easy to promote your blog, so I came up with help. Here are six useful tips:

1. Link exchange is always useful:
First find a site similar to yours in topic. Then link to it.
After that contact (email) the webmaster/owner of the site and ask him that could he link back. Once you've got 10-15 links to your site then you will get stable traffic.
Example: You've got 10 sites linking to you. You get 50 visitors from each site every day. WOW thats 500 pageviews per day and you are only using links.

2. Use holidays to drive more traffic to your blog: If it's Christmas organize a Christmas competition or sellout. Trust me this will double or triple your traffic.

3. SEO is important: It sounds stupid "Search engine optimization". But its very useful. You can get loads of free traffic if you don't ignore this. This point is closely related to link exchange.

4. Comment are one of the best ways to build traffic: They are free and this is the best part really. I once got 125 visits from only 1 comment. And yes its important not to post spam. If you do you will seem aggressive.

5. Register a domain: Buy a domain. If you pay for your name then you will work harder, because you know that you thrown out money for it and you don't want to waste. And its easier to remember than a subdomain.

6. Use the power of social networking:
Facebook and Twitter are very useful. Many people recognize this. Do you? Are you registered on at least one of them? You can reach thousands of people with only few clicks. Its very powerful.

When you register a new blog you think its easy to promote and monetize. Most of new bloggers make this mistake.

social netwk are one of the free and yet powerful traffic generating method. However, you'll get the best traffic generating secrets only through trying and re trying till you've got the best one.

  I recommend working on multiple steps: updating your blog content, building backlinks to it as many as possible. Also forum posting, I highly suggest as this is one of the amazing tip to get natural but steady traffic your blog

  Thanks for your reply. It's quite simple to get lots of visits from only 1 feedback:
  
  1. Don't spam. If you do, you wont get approved when admin moderates the comments.
  
  2. Comment on a high traffic blog with lots of subscribers. I commented on ProBlogger.net (168,000 RSS subscribers and 150,000+ Twitter followers). I got 3 replies on it.
  
  3. One of the most important things: Be the first or at least the fith to comment. People don't read the 127th comment or so .
