whats up with citations

interesting... do you have the KML file uploaded to your server and the xml sitmap installed on your site?

how old is the domain?

Is it about to expire?

Have you done the onpage seo for the website your places listing is attached to?

is your hCard in place in the footer?

just a few questions.... these all relate to whether your site is being picked up as relevent to the listings and the citations.

i have uploaded kml file ,xml site map did that under google webmaster
domain is about 6 months old, ive done back links to all the citations
its not about to expire
and the address is located on every page..

I'm having the same problem with one of my listings. None of the citations are showing up, even the website itself. It is a GP listing I built rather than claiming an existing listing. I did it back when I didn't realize citations should be built first. Still though, it has been several months and nothing is happening. I have the KML, XML, Hcard, on-page SEO... I'm at a loss!

I'm having the same problem too. Kml and xml files done, optimised images and videos, client already had some major citations plus I added more. Zero competition in the town for keyword+town yet she still appears on page two (there is only a two box shown at the moment). This was a created places listing not claimed.

I mentioned this on another thread....

Make sure you add the citations to the 'additional info' area;
Ex.
Manta Listing; url
Insiderpages listing; url
merchantcircle listing; url

and so on... It kinda TELLS google point-blank, Yo! I'm real, I got listings elsewhere.

Also, have your citations been indexed by Google? If so, move on. Keep getting new citations and backlink those.

Easiest way to create one is to google "kml generator" and then upload the file to your hosting. Make sure you add the kml file url to your sitemap too.

That's interesting.... I use the additional details section for links to the site, with Anchor text.

It was working great... now I question my own technique... which has been working beautifully I might add.

Wonder if I could change it to other feeder directory listings... then change back to links on the websites once the reviews are indexed and picked up by the places listing....

Hmmmm...... *raps fingers across desk in a maniacal way*

I have the same problem. Its been 4 month and Google has not posted the citations or reviews from other sites to the places page, even though they all appear in the organic search. I am trying out a few methods right now:

KristofferIM method of building backlinks to the citations
Jimian method of putting the citation urls in the additional info
I will let you know if this works.
