Here's an ad I just found on Craigslist for a social media consultant offering services for hire.

Ad headline:

Quote:
Social Media Consultant For Hire - $1
Ad copy:

Social Media...facebook, twitter, etc. You know you need it but dont have the time and the what and how to see it through. I have 16 years of experience in the cincinnati market in media and advertising and am looking to offer this service to a few business' while still maintaining my current professional position. We can set up my pay on a per hour or per job basis and pay for service as you would a 1099 employee. Please reply and we can set up a time to talk further.

Care to place bets on how many inquiries they get?

My bet is ZERO.

What do you think about this ad?

Yeah, ZERO! Just nothing special, or stand-out about it, and by the hour is not the way I would charge 90% Of the time, Biz owners I have talked to have always liked the "Here, take care of it for me, let me see it when it's done, here's a check, good bye" Approach. Of-coarse when I have done my Job correctly that is. Part of my pitch is that they as Biz owners have enough to worry about, let me take care of their online presence/ Social Media/ Mobile marketing. Etc. Etc. Not "Hey Hire me as an employee so to speak" I dont know, just chiming in I guess.

0! Considering that you can find a ton of great virtual assistants nowadays on online job boards like elance and odesk that work for much less than a 1099 employed vendor.
