Hello, how come no one is talking about Yahoo and Bing search listings?

I know most people use Google, but Yahoo still gets used alot as well.

Does it work the same, citations??

Did I miss a related thread on this?

Generally the same methods to rank on Google should work on Bing. However, Google's market share is so much larger than Bing's that it simply doesn't make sense spending time specifically optimizing for Bing.

  • I would agree on the Bing search engine, although I think it would be important to do the Yahoo local search results.

You know that is a VERY good question.

Stats prove that Bing users spend money so while search traffic is lower versus Google your conversion percentages can be better.

Google has a bigger pie share of all the three. I have tried it. I optimized my affiliate website for google, yahoo and bing. My site ended up ranking 40 in google, 2 in yahoo an 1 in bing, Yet still i have never made any sale.

    Google is the jackpot.

Does anyone find that their sites that rank highly in Google rank terribly in Yahoo and Bing? I have a few sites with #1 keywords on Google which are not even on the first or second pages of Bing or Yahoo. Weird.

Google has been the most popular one. End users prefer using that search engine rather than Yahoo! or Bing, that's why most industries prefer getting traffic from Google.

  • I still would NOT overlook Yahoo Local. I am not talking about national ranking here, I am talking about just ranking in the local. Bing, I could agree it might not be worth the time. BUT, even if yahoo has only a 30% market share, there is STILL customers there! Besides it doesnt take that long to rank in Yahoo local.

I just wasnt seeing anyone discussing it here.

I actually have no experience with yahoo local, and should probably get on that.

Anyone with any experience with it want to share some tips?

I was actually talking to an administrator at a law firm today about Google Places, and he'd done some research on his own. One of the things that he thought was important was this Yahoo Local, and initially I was thinking that it's not even worth bothering with. But, if there are indeed 30% of searches coming through Yahoo or 3%, even if a firm like a law firm gets one client from a Yahoo Local search, it's well worth it.

I am really thinking about using this as a part of what I do, which will differentiate me even more from my competition and add value to my prospects even more.

It can't be any more difficult than setting up a Google Places listing.

Although Yahoo and Bing often follow, to a certain extent, Google search, it would be wise to optimize for these two other search engines as well. If you truly want to "maxmize" your offline client, throw that in there, that would be another profit generating center for you as a consultant.

Probably because google is the number 1 search engine, not only that because you get more results when searching for something and when you ask online users almost have the same answer and that is google.

Yahoo/Bing integration allows them to capture the combined market share of 29%, with 29% of searchers, using these two sites. These statistics should be considered when building a strong online marketing budget on pay per click advertising. Other statistics for consideration is that 93% of all Internet traffic comes from search engines.

Google engine and tools are very easy to work with in online business. Bing and yahoo doesn't bring that much traffic to the site.
