Separate phone line for offline?

Just wondering if offline consultants are using a separate phone line for their offline business to speak to clients?

If so, What service are you using?

Call on my skype number, if they become a client they are then privileged with my cell.

I'm in the UK but I always had a business phone number, a different fax number and also had my mobile which I gave to certain clients.
My thinking was the phone and fax numbers add a look of being more businesslike.

Worst thing is ringing an advert from the local phone book, to hear a crying baby in the background and realising it's a person working from home.

If your clients are in multiple states, it's inexpensive to rent local phone numbers such as through tossabledigits.com. This gives a "local presence" and higher response from advertising promotions.

I'm too new to the game to have additional expenses. BUT, I'll hire a virtual secretary eventually to make it #1 more professional #2 to call people back when I decide to. I'll tell the secretary to allow new prospects inquiries all the time (and I'll answer unless I'm busy).

If you have clients, you basically want to "train" them to not call you at the drop of a dime, or the time wasters will be all over you. Till then, I'll settle with my cell and Skype.
