Truck Repair? Profitable but No Searches..

Hi guys,

Okay here is my problem in a nutshell. My brother is in touch with many heavy duty truck repair services and told me recently that one he is dealing with is paying someone 2400 a month to maintain their online marketing, social media etc.

I was amazed. How the heck can they afford it, but then again... a truck repair costs anywhere from $2000+.

So, I did my keyword research and am finding no search volume for the specific keywords {city} truck repair, truck shop {city}.

However, I do find the overall search volume of the term "truck repair" to be about 12 k a month. But its not city specific.

What can I really do for the client? Could it be that people in my city might be typing in "truck repair" and google places is popping up instead?

What would you do? Is there a way to see stats for Google Places?

Summary:

- Niche not being searched for specifically with city in search term.
- Niche keyword alone, without city gets high search volume every month.
- What does this mean? Google Places listing my best bet?

I would attack it via Google Places and as long as Google can track the IP address to your City, I would say that a well optimised local listing will be fine.

    All the best!

Also try terms such as Truck mechanic. Also find out the the name of the business that is being charged the high amount and do a search in google for the terms and see were it ranks, this way you might be able to see were they get some of their traffic from.
