Bluetooth Advertising at Super Busy 4 way Intersection

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to share an off-line marketing strategy that is not very common but I used recently. I was truly stunned by the response I got using this tool at a busy 4 way, 3 lanes, intersection with stop lights.

As soon as two of the 4 stop lights turned red and cars started stopping and piling up at the stop light, the software and Bluetooth device did their magic. Everybody who had their Bluetooth device enabled, because they where using it for their Bluetooth headset or other Bluetooth enabled device, was now ready to receive a message from me on their mobile phone. Best of all, 100% free!

As soon as I started the Bluetooth broadcast, immediately I started seeing that people were accepting my message. In a matter of 30 minutes, 45 people accepted my message, 60 refused it and another 617 timed-out. What does this mean? 45 people where intrigued enough to find out more, and received the full message and picture on their mobile device after pairing with my device. 60 people refused to pair with my device. They still got the message with my websites name on their phone, but manually refused to pair. When the stop light turned green again and the mobile devices started moving out of range, they resulted in 617 time-outs. Just keep in mind that a time-out does not necessarily mean they did not receive my message. My phone for example, a Blackberry, would show a time-out every time I received the message. So who knows how many other people have actually also received the message, since the Blackberry is such a popular device and I received it just fine.

I used the free software from Ad2Hand and a simple Bluetooth dongle.

Anyone else has experience with Bluetooth marketing?
