What business is best for press release ?

Hi there,

I'm thinking about providing press release service to local business in my area. I'm wondering what type of business I should approach for press release service. I think plumber, carpenter, dentist, florist and other pop and mom shops don't need press release, right? I don't want to waste time approaching the wrong business. Can somebody please advice?

Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

I think that every business is a potential client for a press release submission
service, especially if they are just starting out or they are looking to promote
a new product or service. And the price is right.

It's a great way to get their name out there and this is something that most business owners understand. As in advertising terms. None of that internet marketing mumbo jumbo stuff that they are trying to be sold daily.

    Good idea.

    HI Joe

If you look in the local newspaper it is usually plumbers, electricians that do a feature advertisement so these people are an ideal target.

    joe0074,
One of the most important things PR Web does for you is professionally edit your Press Release. That gives you a great Press Release and allows them to GURANTEE your Press Release gets picked up and carried on all the Services.

Hi joe0074 I agree with everyone else. PR's can be used for any kind of business. I don't want to sound like I am generalizing here, but I really do believe that PR's can be angled in a way to promote any kind of business. Especially if that business is a local business, you shouldn't have a problem getting a PR written properly for that particular business. I have a PR service and have gotten clients from affiliate marketing to digital products to all kinds of local businesses.

Well with local clients, who aren't wanting a global press release, you need to make sure you send a REAL press release to the local new and other print formats.

the thing is,most established companies have budgeted for media publicity by using pr firms (which charge thousands minimum).and they offer no guarantee what so ever(because in the end its up to the journalists if they use the news or not).
see if you can come up with a different angle

I am not a PR person, but I do play one on TV. Actually, I have known some PR people and what really popped out as I got to know them was that what they did and what a journalist does is almost identical (in the technical part). A PR person persuades, and a journalist only reports - that is about the big difference.

So here's my point, a PR person just looks for the story, just like a journalist does. I notice that many people like to do "interviews" (this is from watching my friends do this). Q&A's are the easiest to get, and of course highlight the owner of a business - so that is probably a good place to start. I'm writing that out because your question brings up "OH hey I should be doing that..." as for everything else, companies always have something new and interesting going on. EXCEPT for plumbers etc. That would be totally wrong if for example a plumber had a NEW and interesting tech he was using. Ever notice those home shows where they show a new way to make insulation or something like that? Other than that, I think there are plumber types that are doing the same old thing and are not really into "growth". The problem with these non-growth guys is they have a certain amount of clients, and a certain amount of labor/time so they are FIXED so to speak. Then you have a FLUID type that are starting out, have very little money but are looking to grab clients. Then you have either one who are looking to EXPAND. Those last two, even though they are "Joe The Plumber" really do NEED PR releases.
