How to track the Google / YouTube rank of YouTube videos that you are SEO'ing?

Hi guys,

Well... I have about 70 videos uploaded to YouTube right now. They are all being geo-tagged, tagged and generally optimised for a specific local search term.

How would I go about tracking the rank increase of these videos (for their particular keywords) in YouTube, and in Google, efficiently?

I really don't want to do it manually!

Personally I use rank tracker in market samurai.
Are you doing any additional work to improve the rankings of the videos ?

I guess I will have to check that out but does that have a YouTube rank tracker also built in or only a Google rank tracker?

Yes, I will be doing SEO for the videos to get them ranking in Google/Youtube

  just consider your youtube video as a webpage, and this is tracked.
  you do not need a special youtube ranker.

Hi Phil,

From my knowledge, Google will only display 2 or 3 videos in the Google natural results (unless of course you go over and click on the videos tab) so I am not sure if market samurai would work in this sense (or any other program?). What do you think?

  You can customise rank checker to check upto the first 1000 results in SERPS ( from memory ).
  Google shows all the videos it has indexed, if you look on say the first 100 pages, and do not see your video, there is a simple reason for this..... its being outranked by all the other pages.
  
  As you start to do SEO on the videos, you will see the videos appear in the results and then start to climb up the rankings.
  
  I assume that you mean you want to check how your video is performing in SERPS, and not just within youtube itself.

Sorry Phil, didn't quite catch on in the beginning but now I understand what you mean. I thought that Google would only show for example 2 or 3 videos from YouTube and that's it but it seems that the best videos will be shown on the first page, but later on videos will still be shown as you keep going down the pages (which I did not know) so the way you suggest should work fine.

Thank you! Now I just need to find an affordable/free tracking solution (don't have MS and don't really want to purchase just for this)

philboyuk has it correct.

Just monitor the rank of each URL to each video, and you're set.

RankTracker adequately does this.

Did you check RankTrackr ? It has Youtube tracker for tracking position of your videos on Youtube.

I signed up for a free trial of ranktrackr but it won't accept the username password I created and there isn't even a lost password function. That is a fail in my opinion. :-(

  SEScout doesn't have youtube position tracking. I also have some bad experience with SEScout - not being accurate enough and up-to-date with my keyword rank updates.

I use Serpbook's "extreme" membership and right now it's max'd out with 500 geotargeted YT videos.

It works very well for tracking YT videos like the ones you mentioned. If you only need to track 70 videos that's like $10 / month.
