Outsourcing for offline biz clients

The promos we see in the Warriors for hire forums, without wanting to insult anyone, would the quality of the majority of work offered in that forum be acceptable for high end offline clients ?
I see many of those offers as aimed at the IM field which is fine and if things go tits up its only a landing page and a few months up the swanny. If youre putting things together for a higher end business thats got a great name and been in business for 50 years building up that name , will some of these services possibly jeopardise this business?
Obviously keeping well away from any dodgier link building etc offers .

any thoughts (im not in any way doubted the genuiness of the people ) ?

@aclacy, if you're open to having your website project managed from the USA, I recommend Hudson Horizons *dot* com (Web Development Company) -- no, I don't work for them

They're a strategic partner with a local video production company. That's how I know of their work.

Yeah well if you've got a rep to protect then I would choose very carefully.

Have you tried O desk? I've heard a lot of people going on about it & it seems to be the place to ooutsource things...

    All the best,

I understand the problem as I am looking for web site design and outsourcers for G places.
However I will QA (quality assure) everything that I prepare or have prepared for clients. So it is a case for choosing outsourcers wisely and being prepared to take a hit financially if you are not happy with the work and need to go elsewhere for a satisfactory job. Then obviously look after any good people you find...

I have hired "direct" for a few small projects (logo design and some minor website work) - twice I got burned: once lost $99 and recently the graphic designer from India got all pissy when we weren't satisfied with her work and decided to bail on the project after I invested lots of time.
Bottom line is I think services such as Odesk or elance are valuable because they provide escrow to control payments, real ratings and comments from past customers, and if necessary someone to settle disputes. Just be careful for accountability and protecting your money if dealing directly. Sometimes when trying to save a few bucks you can waste money (and time)!

I use oDesk to find article writers and video editors all the time. The service provides a powerful search function to zero in on experienced providers, and even hosts employer feedback and portfolios.

My only beef is that they charge 10% on all payments to the contractor -- meaning that you pay $10 to oDesk for every $100 you pay to a contractor. That's not excessive, but I don't like doing it.

Therefore, I use oDesk to find and hire contractors for the first (small) job, then once we've established trust, I hire the contractor independently and pay through something like Paypal.

Test them for your own sites before you offer their services to clients.
After being burnt down a few times, i decided to get full time employees under me to ensure quality isn't toyed with.

glad Im not the only one, with your own sites you get a few chances if things screw up, with a corporate 4 or 5 figure deal its gotta be right first time , as such id never use a cut price thing but even some of the higher deals sometimes dont end up looking all that .
You know people post 'we can do xyz look at our work ' and yes it looks good but the work is pitched at a level for sites that may be around for a few months and then who cares the promos over , I dont see many saying they can do XYZ at the higher levels of delivery and showing proof of it. Of course theyd charge more too and fair dos I have found some clearly talented people who can and do deliver , i guess Im expecting too much for people to say what levels theiyre pitching at?

Very few companies show/share client reports, due to NDA and mutual understanding.
You never know whom you are showing the reports to, a close friend was in trouble after he showed work reports to a prospective clients to strike a deal who ended up as the client's rival, do i need to say anything more
