Interesting offline pitch from an "old" master...

OFFLINE MARKETING

I say "master" with tongue-in-cheek, but there's no doubt that he knew how to promote whatever he was selling -- and really made a kingdom for himself in infomercial land.

Most of you will remember him as the kid who made "millions from tiny classified ads". Looks like he's jumped onto the offline bandwagon as well, with an interesting pitch...

I'm embarrassed (kinda) to say that I actually purchased his 1-900 program back in the early 90's...
If anything, it did open up my world to all the possibilities that one really could start a business on a shoestring, and that a "business" does not have to be brick and morter or franchised. That was a new concept for me at the time and I suppose that I can honestly say it's almost the sole reason that I've always had some sort of side business going all these years since.

Was this pitch actually an infomercial as well? I hadn't seen him in a while.

Don Lapre. I'd think with all of the money he's made he could afford better web design and copy. That's just painful to look at.

  His site is almost as simple as Google. Click his link and BAM, he's in your face with his pitch. No room for getting lost. I'm sure the wacky design is for a reason.

  Interesting, yes. $395 and 3%.
  Even if he never, ever gets 3% of anything, I'm sure he'll get a ton of $395 takers who will feel like they are working with a "celebrity".
  
  I'm sure that he's got his army of upsell people waiting in the wings, behind the scenes, ready to start shoveling in the cash as well.

Boy he has aged and looks burnt out.

Wow if this is what having money can do for him.

I wonder if it was worth it for him.

Maybe many sleepless nights from selling "goofy" stuff.

Don is one ambitious guy....his last company he ended up bankrupting, due to a bad investment in commercial property. You have to say you've made a name for yourself if your TV appearances were so well known, you were parodied on Saturday Night Live....Don and Tom Vu, two of my favorites!
