Managing E-Mail Campaigns

I'm just sending out my first e-mails to attract offline Clients. I had thought I might use an AutoResponder to track who I'm sending to and which groups etc. However it looks like manually starting a list is not allowed with Autoresponders as they want Optins only. If I'm going to be sending out a minimum of 100+ e-mails a week to different business categories in various cities I would appreciate your thoughts on how best to manage my campaigns.
Thanks....Tim

If it's not double opt in, then most companies will not even touch it or allow you to work with them.

Eduardo: Thanks for your input. This is kind of what I expected with Autoresponders. I'm wondering if you or anyone else has an idea on how to manage this, perhaps with Excel Spreadsheets or other software?

A program to manage lists? You will need them in CSV or TXT format both of which are handled by Excel; so that wold be the way to go.

I am currently running an e-mail campaign for a client and her list was "opted in" by writing their information on place cards. I simply uploaded the info into a spreadsheet and copied it over to mailchimp. This does kind of get you by the opt in requirements, but you would still be technically spamming them unless you have made contact first(CanSpam identifies spam as any UNSOLICITED e-mail contact).

I would call each business, let them know you are just going to send them some info on whatever service you are providing, and verify their e-mail. This should actually also help with your open ratio. Then use Aweber or Mailchimp to mail to them. Aweber has a $1 trial I think, and Mailchimp has a free account up to 1000 e-mails and you can mail 6 times per month.

The subject line is the hook for people to open or trash your email. You have less than 10 words to convince someone you have something they want and need. Use keywords that will excite or even enrage your target audience. If you know your audience you will know just what they desire or even fear.

You can take your email addresses and BCC them through Gmail, yahoo, or whatever email program you are using.

I'd then keep a log (on the same file) or when you emailed them so you know when to contact them again.

Also be sure to add something to the email letting them opt out so that you won't get in trouble with the law.

      Good luck.
