Looking for Tech Help for a Potential Customer

Hey guys! Just got a great lead on a potential customer from someone who works in the company. She mentioned something that the customer is looking for from the website and I don't know if there is already an add-on product out there that fits the need or if we need to find some programming help?

The potential customer is a private school. They really like some functionality they saw in another school's website. They like it when a parent can log on to the website, pick a specific class, teacher, assignment or test and see how the child did for a grade. I'm thinking about calling the school that already has this to try to talk to the tech dept so maybe I can find out more info.

I asked her if the teachers were even willing to add an extra chore to their daily task list of inputting the data needed for this and she said definitely yes.

So, I know the need, just gotta fill it with the right product!!

Anyone heard of anything like this before?

    Right off the top of my head you can do that by finding out what database they use then hire a contractor who knows how write php that will pull the data. Soap and rest are common methods for that and you can also create it using flash/flex builder. If you want them to enter the data manually you can just create password protected database. Again a contractor can do that and make it like an installation Quick ideas are joomla with community builder or jom social, then you can modify those to again integrate with a database. I would also look up things like moodle, that is a complete online classroom, but it might be able to be slimmed down to just track student info, blackboard is another system like that.
