Do you use a flyer or biz card when cold calling local biz?

I would rather go right to the biz myself then over the phone. I ran a large company before and was not a fan at all of phone solicitation. Didn't have the time to listen to canned presentations.

any sample text of flyers would be really helpful.

Maybe something like

I think you're going to have to clarify a bit...

Do you want to cold call OR send out flyers??

Unless there's something new I don't know about , you can give them a flyer through your cell phone.

I would like to go to the biz with a flyer not just to drop off and run away but in case the owner is not available etc.

      Thanks,

        Thanks,
I would take an A3 sheet of paper, fold in 2 so you have 4 sides of A4 to write on.

I'd put an ad with a graphic on the front saying " Do YOU have this PROBLEM?"

And the on the back it would say: "We can solve it for you (see inside)" plus my contact details.

Inside I'd have a story about someone who had that problem, who had bought my solution, and had a HUGE success.

When I got to the business I was prospecting, if the owner was available I'd had them the flyer/brochure open and ask "Are you like this?". If they are, talk to them about their problem.

If the owner wasn't there, I'd leave the document. Some owners would read it and call, most won't.

The few that do call justify the cost of the paper and printing.

I don't like cold calling over the phone so prefer approaching the business owner face to face. Once you get in front of the business owner hand them your postcard/flyer and introduce yourself as a local business marketer who actually lives in the local area.

I tell them that I am new to the area and just wanted to introduce myself at the same time handing them my post card. This help by first of all they are usually surprised and its a lot harder to say no to someone who is standing in front of them that someone over the phone.

I find this convert very well rather than the normal phone call they normally get.

I personally just use a sheet of paper with 2 screenshots of Google 1st page results of 2 of my clients owning the first page. I include my logo and my contact info and thats it. It speaks for its self and not much more to say. Way better than a small business card.

Try a SEALED #10 envelope, and write in CRAYON...

Why Did I Write This in Crayon?

Then inside, something along the lines of what @DRDAN said. That'll get 'em.

I would just use business cards. If the owner is available you are going to have the opportunity to tell them briefly what it is you want to discuss with them and make the appointment for your pitch.

If they are not available do you really think a flyer is going to sell to them or provoke them into contacting you?

Doesnt matter, your goal is not to drop off literature per se'...but to get an appointment or interest. Ask to speak to who handles their advertising...this works good for me!

Do you know that business postcards plus a follow up phone call are awesome. i finf that double sided color postcards directed at targeted business owners with main details-bullet points works best. after they call you-so you know they are ready to do business! So the postcard does your prescreening and selling!
