How to find businesses with emails but no website?

Hey Guys,

As I progress with my Domain Flipping as well as Offline Marketing, I need a question answered:

How can I easily find businesses that have email addresses but do not have websites?

I don't really like cold calling so I just wanted to see if there was a way to contact businesses without websites without calling them.

You can get them from member listings on
    Chamber Of Commerce sites
    building contrractors associations
    hvac contractors associations
    electrical contractors associations
    roofing contractors associations
    landscape design contractors associations
    painting contractors associations
    log cabin builders associations
    retailers associations
    flooring contractors associations

    And there is Manta.com

And there is Yellow pages scrapers

    And your Yellow Pages book

    Plenty to help there.

    Best,
    Ewen

Have you seen the accuracy of Manta data dropping significantly this year?

I used to get owner / manager names from manta but stopped after finding less than 30% accuracy lately.

Can't say I have, as I have been using software that gets biz details from other sources.

You could try looking in the yellow pages for a chosen niche and just go down the list.

Mike, I'm sure that there are probably scrapers out there that allow you to extract this information from Google Places. In the past, I've tried looking up businesses on Places and was astonished at the number of listings that did not contain website URLs!

          Go to vWorker/Elance/Odesk.

"I need someone to go through the local chamber directory of companies in the city of <city> and find all those that have generic email addresses (like Yahoo, Gmail or Hotmail etc) but do not have their own website."

Link to the chamber directory or whatever directory is the biggest in your city and get quotes.

We just got 1000 businesses for $50.

I have the same problem here.
It seems like when people don't have a website, they don't have email address either.
I check from yellow pages and Google places. It is hard to find people email address if they don't have a website. I believe there must be a solution for this
Let me know how you work on it.

Mike, that's an amazing bargain! Where will your worker be sourcing these email addresses from? Are you having him target specific professions/industries? I've tried doing this manually myself in the past, and sometimes it can take up to an hour or even longer to get 50 email addresses, depending on the location and industry (sometimes you have to wade through a lot of listings before you can get 50 email addresses of businesses that do not have websites!)

Please report back on the results you get with your worker!

I got a phone call last week from a woman wanting a quote.

I said I no longer in that business as I had sold out.

I asked her how she found out about me, and said internet
and I was the first listing.

I thought that was weird because I had no website for it.

Went and checked it out, sure enough I was #1 on Google and Local.

I had forgotten I had listed it with Google Local.

I am ahead of others with websites.

So yeah, there are plenty in Google and Yahoo local listings
without websites and have their emails listed.

          Best,
          Ewen

If time is a problem and you have the money
why not just avoid all of the crap with out sourcing
and go to info usa and buy all of the business emails

Hire a coder from rentacoder or guru, etc. to write you a script that will scrape email addresses from the online yellow pages. We've done this before. It's not always 100%, but it's a great starting point. Shouldn't cost you more than $100.

    Mike,

I think if you would start cold calling, you will at least triple your income. For very basic web design, and google places, if you need a very large sum of money, you can do that by cold calling.

If you're making a grand a week now.. you can make 4K+ with cold calling.

I think it would be better if you actually go to the store and ask the owner if they have a functioning website or if they need a website. If they don't have a website tell them how important it is to have their business online because they can reach many more potential customers who are not aware of their brick-and-mortar store. If you grab their interest, propose your domain and tell them the real benefit of having a really good domain name when it comes to a website.

Minisite, that is the best idea, however I agree with the previous posts and like to send something first. It kind of warms up the prospect so that when you do walk in the door it isn't so cold.

The only thing is, I prefer snail mail when doing so. I know that here is a lot of junk in it as there is spam in one's email, but there is something about an actual letter that seems more substantial. In fact, I have been very successful when we have attached a dollar bill to that letter.

Haha that sounds good! Adding a dollar bill to the letter. Might increase your costs but worth a hefty contract.

There are a couple of scrapers on this forum that do what you want (ie: get emails of people that don't have websites), the simplest is Richard Goldie's here http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...-100-sold.html I believe it's only $7.

The other that I would recommend is Russ Hayes here http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...er-2011-a.html at $197 but it does a ton more stuff.

    Hope this helps

I try the software from Richard Goldie before but it doesn't work well. I can't scrape emails from businesses that don't have websites at all. I don't get the same results as shown in his video

The bottom line is if business doesn't have a website, it is rarely we can find (personal) email address from the owner.

Any advice to find email from businesses but no websites ? I want to offer website design to these business.

      Thanks,

          Hi Mike

          I agree.
Cold calling is a surefire way to work with business with no website.
However, I hate cold calling so much. What should I do?
Can I outsource cold calling with commission per sale ?
Where can I find cold caller? from odesk.com ?

          Thanks,

I have tried Odesk and only got one reply. Try it for yourself though. I am not sure as to where to find commissioned based sales people. Perhaps craigslist!

Otherwise, if you have the time, learn to cold call. Even though you hate it, you will get used to it and you will make money.

        Thanks,
Not, a fast way by any means, but I live in suburb, so I've started looking for business cards on the counters of places I go, I'm finding many that have a generic email address with no website. I then go home and make sure they don't have a website and so far when they have a card without a website it's because they don't have one.

        Hi Joe

You should PM Richard about that, I know there has been an update in the last few days which might solve any problems you have with it.
