Getting on top of Google Places

What is the best way to get listed on top of Google places for local terms?

I have seen sites that manage to do it, but how? great on site SEO or off site SEO

    Google has put greater emphasis on your website; its structure, content and speed.

    Google now evaluates your website to determine your relevance to the local area and the categories that you have chosen.

    If you haven't updated your website in a while and applied some basic SEO (Search Engine Optimization) techniques, chances are your website is becoming a liability to your rank.

    In addition the amount of traffic your site gets also plays a role in your ranking. What this means is that you will need to find ways to generate traffic to your site in order that you keep a high ranking.

      That is 100% wrong.

      Good places has nothing to do with your site structure or speed. I agree they somewhat evaluate your website to determine relevance, but not enough importance on that to make it very valuable.

      Citations, reviews, pictures, video, are very important with google places.

    Hello JB
    I could type out all the things you need to do but if you just use the search function, you will get a lot of your answers.
    My top 3 are getting over 50 directories/citations, add 10 photos and name the image as keywords you want to be found on and try to get as many reviews as possible.
