How A Simple Video Turned Into A Year Contract

My wife and I were at one of our fav restaurants when the manager came over to chat.

"Boy, I wish things would pick up, otherwise I'll have an early vacation."

My wife and I looked at each other and I said, "Do you mind if I try something?" She said for me to go ahead.

I came back with a camera and took a few pictures.

My wife then created a nifty little presentation and exported to Quicktime.

Here's where it gets good. I then uploaded the video to a service called instantvideowebpages.com (I am NOT an affiliate)

Quickly created a page and posted it on the 'Net. (I bought a domain and hosted it through my reseller account.)

The next time we went to the restaurant, I told the manager about the website and she told the owner. We set up an appointment that week.

Long story, short: The owner was so happy he agreed to a year contract... not only for the website, but for my "Business Consulting" services.

Total time spent with the meetings, picture taking, presentation making, et al.: 5 hours.

Not a bad trade.

Not bad at all.

    Nicely done!

Outta curiosity, what price point did you close him at?

This type of stuff is what it's all about! I'm actually creating a course on this stuff, which is about giving up your time for free to build trust for large paydays.

This was a client who wanted my help to grow their business beyond what I did on the internet.

Since this was a place I frequent all the time, I did a low price point of $500 a month.

    Typically, with higher-end clients, I charge $3000 a month.

    Why the difference?

I won't have to do much other than talk when I come to the restaurant to eat on a weekly basis... (My wife loves the place). In addition, I have worked with restaurants enough, that I have a whole package of support material already done. Lastly, I consider this place a place I want to see keep going... so, I am doing this "almost" pro bono.

Another client, who I got in almost the same way (just chatting... no website or video done upfront, though)... I got a $1500 check for a couple hours work.

It depends on the case for me... but I like to target higher-end clients to get the bigger checks. BUT, if I am talking with a business owner who is lower on the scale and they want help... I'll figure a fair price that can work for them.
