price for ongoing website design services?

OFFLINE MARKETING

Question for anyone who does website design for local clients - if you have a client that continues to make requests for website changes that might require a few hours of work per month, what do you charge for this? Do you charge a flat monthly rate or charge by the hour?

Flat rate, usually $100-300 a month is good enough. I'm not sure how needy they are, but if it is over a certain amount of work we will charge $50 an hour on top of that.

  In my experience you would want to charge monthly as people are much more comfortable with a monthly rate than with hourly. It eliminates the whole "it took you six hours to do that?" nonsense. In most cases it will work to your benefit as well; but in the case that you have an extremely needy client, which you should gage ahead of time, you may want to charge hourly.
