Ways to get Partnerships?

Hello all,

I have been posting a lot lately asking how to grow my business. I have gotten some useful ideas, and have been implementing them, and I will have to update this forum as to how they are faring.

I do have another question...

I have been trying for quite some time now to get partnerships with various marketing agencies and SEO companies in my area (Pittsburgh, PA). I got 1 response from a pretty large SEO company, but I think it was more of a courtesy email than a prospective partnership email. DO any of you have experience you are willing to share about how to go about getting partnerships?

In case you are wondering, I own a video production company specializing in commercial production, web production, and training videos.

Any help will be appreciated!

Matt

Okay so you aren't referring to a legal partnership, just more of affiliating services and possibly collecting a referral fee?? Can you describe in more detail what you are really wanting a partnership for and define what you mean by partnership.

Many times, myself included, people will be propositioned for a partnership. Usually when we see partnership, we immediately think the person has no money and just wants work to see an idea in action, and if it succeeds, then pay with come. Most of us aren't going to work for free and wait a year for a profit, if there is any.

That is one problem right there, and it really isn't your fault, it is just a word that has become rather negative for certain people!

If you mean partnership in a way where you get discounted services by having an established relationship, then the best way is just networking. Possibly join BNI, get to know some people.

I dont know what happened, I replied to the last post, but it did not show up. If it does by the time I post this one, I will delete this one.

I guess what I am talking about is affiliation. I am looking for a company to offer their clients my company's video production service. The companies I have contacted do not presently offer video production, and I have laid out for them how offering it can lead to big profits.

The structure I am trying to offer them is that I have a set price for my services. It is fair (some may even say low) they can then sell the video service to their clients at whatever price they like so they are in control of their own profits. This is the way I do it with the company I am affiliated with now, and it works beautifully.

I don't know why I am not attracting other companies to join in...We work fast, efficiently, professionally, and most importantly effectively. We are courteous, have samples, have results. They just do not want to deal with us.

Is there some advice you can give as to how to get some sort of response from these companies?

Matt, I don't know if you'd be interested in this, but another way you could approach this is by looking at some of the threads by John Durham, Marcos (MRomeo09) and Amir Luis, some of the approaches they advocate include outsourcing work that you don't want or can't do. So, by you could start approaching companies to do a cheap website, then add on your video service, etc.
