Know how I can get a US phone number for confirmation

Hi, does anyone know how I can get a US number, preferably one I can have a message texted to, because I am trying to register with craigs list and they want to do a telephone confirmation to allow me to post in certain categories. There must be services that provide a service I can use. Any ideas?

    Google Voice has this ability, I have used a few different numbers. Give them a look and see if its what you were after.

      Unfortunately, Google Voice isn't going to work outside of the US (they will not assign US numbers to anyone who signs in with a foreign IP).

      He'll have to get creative and perhaps get a contact or acquaintance to do what Louie has alluded to above.

        There are pretty simple and clear reasons why you can't register a US number outside of the US. LOL, maybe someone on fiverr will setup a phone line for you.

    Try skype. It allows you to set up a local number in any country for a small monthly fee.

    Unfortunately for our Japanese friend....

    Craigslist detects and does not allow VOIP phone numbers.

    I only know this from my own personal experience where I was going to sell some stuff, and CL said I needed to verify.... I have so many numbers.... but most of them are VOIP or cellular. I had to call a friend and say... "hey, can you help me out here?"

    I used their landline and had them text me the verification code...

    All I can say is.... Think outside the box.

    yea they make it a pain in the ass to verify. I had to try 4 different numbers until one worked. Only 1 of my cell phones worked.
