I have a potential client who at the moment is using Yell as well as other advertisers, yell are promoting there website'(estate agents) through google adwords for a set fee per month. targetting related keywords, they say they are getting more customers, but have no tracking whatsoever, so dont know who is sending the traffic.

when typing in a keyword, sometimes there ad turns up on the right hand side in google ads, and other times it doesnt, why is this?

I could target these keywords organically very easily as they are local, and be ranking no1 or 2 in a short spell of time as there is no competition to speak of.

I have spoken to the client abouyt these issues, what would your advice be here, and what would you offer to promote and save them paying all these seperate advertisers.

    First, you need to provide them a lead-tracking mechanism - no matter what promotional method you use. Even if you do SEO, there should be a way for them to track the lead source. I would suggest to use -
    1) Web forms to capture leads through a dedicated landing page
    2) Having a dedicated phone number on this page - may be you can use a google number

    Once tracking is in place, you offer them a complete lead generation service. There is no need to tell them whether you'll use SEO or Adowrds or Facebook or whatever. Just tell them you'll generate leads and this is what you expect for every lead/sale. That's it. Keep it simple.

    I have been doing it for more than 5 years now and it has never failed. If you need any other help, let me know.

      The reason they show up sometimes is that google spreads the amount of money available over the whole day if they constantly showed the ad in the morning and all the revenue was used up the site would not show later in the day

      Mick you have answered your own answer you can offer them a top organic listing which will constantly be there when their ad won't and I'll bet it will cost them less than they are paying yell.
