Do You Offer Monthly maintenance?

For those of you who offer SMS texting and/or setting up some sort of squeeze page to build your customer's lists.....do you also offer sending out the text offers and e-newsletters for them?

For instance, if a restaurant wants to do a weekly e-newsletter, do you offer to handle that for them too? If so, how much is a good price to charge and do you try to get an entire month of content or just wait till they send it to you each week?

Thanks.

Mike

Ahhh... Usually when a company has a bad idea, I'll risk throwing the money away and telling them it is a bad decision. Newsletters for restaurants just don't work as well as they do for other companies. When I get a new client, especially for restaurants or bars, it is almost like I am on staff, in a way that I manage it all for them. I don't just sell them a setup, I manage it all. It is your job as a consultant to not just make money off them, but to guide them in the best direction possible.

Does this mean that newsletters in general don't work well for restaurants...or setting them up with newsletters and having them do it themselves doesn't work which is why you'll do it for them?

And when I say Newsletter, I'm actually talking about a quick email mentioning some sort of discount or even their weekly specials. Not necessarily a newsletter with a bunch of "Here's what's happening" type articles.

There is a local restaurant that sends me emails every once in a while and they do have discounts such as "Buy one dinner get one half off" type of stuff. But the problem with their offers is that you need to use it that evening only. I wish they'd at least add a few days to the expiration so I can plan to have dinner there. It's an expensive restaurant that you wouldn't eat at every night.

SMS campaigns is the way to go for restaurants. I have had restaurants want to do email campaigns with newsletters or weekly specials, I have turned it down because it just doesn't work well. I'd rather have successful clients than ones that don't have any progress!

SMS campaigns take away the need for newsletters. I don't think they should really be doing newsletters, even monthly, unless they have a lot of high profile people coming in. Like if Michael Jackson came back from the dead to eat there, then announce it. If Albert Pujols, or Alex Rodriguez has come in, then announce it. Weekly specials, that is why they have a website, if they want results, get them to do SMS campaigns.

There's a local restaurant that emails me about once every 4-6 weeks with some deals and it usually gets me to visit . It's a fairly cheap place.

If one of the expensive restaurants I liked emailed me a buy 1 get 1 deal, it would really seem desperate and hurt their image to me. SMS texts would do the same, but faster.

I disagree entirely, mainly because I have restaurants that do this for their SMS campaigns and I have doubled their profits. It does not seem desperate at all. Restaurants use coupons all the time for buy one get half off.... One bar and grill I have as a client, does that with a 2 drink minimum from the bar. When we do SMS campaigns on nights that don't fall on weekends, we get a weekend bar ring, and overall sales that are higher than a typical weekend.

Does it hurt their image? If it does, then it isn't hurting their pocket. That's for sure.
