Help Needed Urgently : Regarding Cold Calling

2 replies
Hi;
My wife had involved with a non profit organization.
2 months from now, the organization will run a program for kids, and the best part is, my wife is in charged on getting sponsorship.

This is her first experience, and neither both of us had any experience before.

Her superior gave her a list of company with numbers and address and she is responsible to call all of the company. There are about 100 hundred companies.

The problem is, she had call more than 50 company and you can guess, most of the company (the call receiver) give almost the same answer, "you need to write a letter about your program and send to us, and we will look at it".

I'm not sure I'm a realistic or feeling negative about this, where I've a doubt all of them will never open the letter when we send to them.

So, I need suggestions, how to make an effective cold calling for sponsorship ?
What to say and what to do, so that the letter that my wife will send will not turn to dustbin?

Regards;
Raja Kamil

    Hi Raja,

    Does the non-profit organization have a website, explaining their mission, that you could point people to?

    You're most likely not going to get around that.
    It's one thing to call an individual asking for donations.
    Calling a company is something all together different.

    I've done a lot of telemarketing and cold calling in my teens and early twenties.
    Whenever we were doing a corporate call campaign, our calls were always preceded with written correspondence.

    Credibility is a huge factor when you call businesses.
    Asking for a donation or sponsorship isn't a casual affair.
    If you do not implement a professional protocol you won't be taken serious.

    Without an official "invitation" before you call or the ability to provide during your initial call, you're just going to be blown off like every other solicitation. Which company's get all day long.
