For those who work with local business clients that offer services to clients or patients ...

Doing Everything You Believe You Should But Still Not Attracting Any or As Many Local Business Clients?

There's a reason and I can bet that if you can eliminate the 4 most common problems associated with attracting 'IDEAL' local business clients, then this becomes a problem of the past.

Who is this for?

This is for you if you can answer "Yes" to any of the following questions:

  • Do you aspire to work specifically with local businesses and business owners that provide services of any kind
    .
  • Do you currently work with the groups above but feel you're not attracting enough clients
    .
  • Do you currently work with the above groups but you struggle to retain your clients
The recommendation below addresses very specific problems with attracting and retaining local business clients in a specific target markets. So you are guaranteed success f you work with any of the following:
  • Health professionals such as Chiropractors, Dentists etc
    .
  • Law Firms
    .
  • Accountants and CPAs
    .
  • Professional Services Businesses
    .
  • Small to Medium Sized Consulting Firms and Other Service Professionals
The Problem

I don't know about you but it seems like the market place out there is getting kind of crowded and everywhere you look it seems like there are more and more players on the local business marketing scene.

So what's the local small business consultant like you and me got to do to survive?

Eliminate the 4 biggest problems that you face. The fact that you may not be aware of them doesn't mean they don't exist either.

The 1st Problem With Attracting And Retaining
Ideal Local Service Business Clients

You've probably heard the saying that "It's not who you know, it's who knows you"

That statement is the key to the 1st problem with attracting and retaining your most ideal local service business clients.

VISIBILITY

You could be the best at what you do, infact, you could be a god in anything that local service business clients are dying for:

  • Lead generation
  • Website design
  • Effective Google Places listing
  • Search Engine Optimization
  • Facebook marketing
  • [Fill-in-yours-here]
... the list is endless.

But if no one knows you exist, then that's a BIG problem you need to take care of. If your IDEAL local business clients don't know you exist, then solving that problem is more important than acquiring the latest and snazziest tool available on the market today that promises you a solution so easy..."it's like shooting fish in a barrel".

Questions for you (... and you can answer this to yourself in the privacy of your own cyber universe!)

So, who knows that YOU exist right now? Who currently knows that you've got solutions that could save them time, money and frustration? Who knows that you could start to get them 24 leads within the next 24 hours, which could lead to a couple of sales they wouldn't have got if not for you?

By the way, that's easily doable with the simple and strategic use of Aweber!

If this post 'speaks' to your current situation, then the graphic below reveals some very specific items I recommend you look into right now

The issue explored seems basic, but it'll make a world of difference. It's a tad hard to sell, I mean: a marketer, who is planning to promote others, but who is not promoting himself!
    Thanks for sharing.

      Hi Michael,

That indeed is the problem, the deceptive simplicity.

As I mentioned in the post, you can be the best at what you do, but if no one knows you exist ...

Plus, if part of what you do is to help other businesses increase their visibility but you're not walking the walk, it's a losing endeavor, no matter what script, tool, out-of-the-box solution or 'secret sauce' you're applying to what you do under the banner of Offline Marketing.

Trust me, after 3 flops in a row in business when I started out in the 90s, I understand the impotence not only of visibility in general, but visibility to a very specific target ideal client.

Thanks for taking the time to share some comments

        Hi Bayo,

Thanks for this post and sharing your "mind map" in figuring out where we are steering wrong.

I'm sure, as many others who are in the offline arena, that when first starting out we don't focus on a particular "target market" - we go after whatever we can get to bring in business and get "exposure" of our services to the local area.

Of course, after two or three of those we should start targeting the market we would like to dig "deeper" into. Unfortunately, many don't do that and continue on the "general" local business route. I know because I've done that, but am now moving toward a specific target market and ideal client - also known as "find a niche and go deep". :-)

I am going to work on my revenue and marketing plans, as these are very important to success. Another fault is that we don't think we need a "plan" and we kinda wing it from the hips and go around in circles - coming back to the same place we started.

I agree that, as consultants to other businesses, we need to "walk the talk" (I'm not fond of the fake it till you make it mentality) and make sure we are showing up online for the terms we want to reach our target market, have a fan page and other profiles on social media and are building a list, etc.

Doesn't make us look good when we aren't even found ourselves and is "perceived" by the prospective client that we don't know what we are doing.

Looking forward to seeing more comments and post here on this topic. By the way, where is the link to the video?

          Hi Patrick,

Thanks for your comments and insights.

I only planned to post a video if there was enough interest in this post.

One of the key drivers of success in Offline Marketing, no matter what your target market is, has to be that you only stay involved in things that your target market shows an interest in. If not, it's a waste of the most valuable resource we have ... time.

While the information in the post is something every beginner and novice Offline Marketer must understand, and something even 'old dogs' need to remember, I haven't been able to justify the investment of time in following up on the topic or with a video.

As much as I enjoy creating educational products, it's way more fun when it's done with a purpose!

          We'll see.

            Hi Bayo,

I jumped into the whole "Offline" craze about 6 months ago and have treaded water ever since, getting each "New" offer that came out, hoping that that the next one would have the "magic button" that i needed

It's funny that all I needed was a kick up the backside by you.....

Your words have rung truer than 99% of all the so called gurus out there and all you did was simply tell the truth, lay it out for the world to see.. but most people getting into this world don't want to hear the truth, we want the myth that you can earn soooo much money, and it's all so easy, when in fact it isn't, it;s a full time job which needs commitment

But no more, no more special offers, no more information.. from tomorrow my world has changed, this is "do" time and I thank you for your words Bayo

            Cheers
            MM

    I agree with this Bayo.

Up until a few weeks ago i was blindly targetting businesses without a proper plan in place.

I have been writing and implementing a thorough marketing plan and this is starting to yield results now
