It's Not Just Google Places Anymore...

Looks like Bing Search, Bing Local is giving Google Places a run for their money....

Interesting article in webpronews stating that Bing will be the default search on all BlackBerry devices - not only for the web, but at the OS level.

"Blackberry devices will use Bing as the preferred search provider in the browser, and Bing will be the default search and map application for new devices presented to mobile operators, both in the United States and internationally. Also, effective today Bing will be the preferred search and maps applications with regular, featured placement and promotion in the BlackBerry App World carousel"

This along with Nokia adding Bing...
"Microsoft will provide Bing search services across the Nokia device portfolio as well as contributing strength in productivity, advertising, gaming, social media and a variety of other services"

With this news it's even more important to not only get local businesses listed in Google Places....but Bing Local also....especially with the majority of local searches coming from cell phones & mobile devices than home computers.

I doubt Bing will ever overtake Google but it's showing that Bing is a force to be reconned with....especially with local, mobile searches. Make sure your local business clients know this....might be easier to sign them up for Bing Local Listings or Mobile Marketing services.

Reard the article....HERE

And...here is the link to Bing Local (Bing Business Portal)

Hope this helps...Good Luck,
`

Don't think it will ever take over? I think it will get pretty close, pretty soon.

Glad I replaced my Blackberry with an Android. I'm not a big fan of Bing and I hate it when companies force you to use one search engine over another.

However, I guess you do have to roll with the punches and offer services based upon the latest trends and situations.

Have you seen the numbers for Android daily activations? The last info I noticed showed it to be at 300,00 daily activations. Since Google is backing those phones, the search numbers will only look better for Google.

Consultants should be using Google, Yahoo, and Bing anyways.
It helps set you apart already. Google gets 80% of the searches, where as Yahoo and Bing only get about 10% each.

"We want you in front of as many customers as possible So, unlike most companies that onlly focus on Google, we work with all three. In order to maximize your online presence."

I saw on LinkedIn this morning something about Bing taking over Blackberry. The guy was pissed and said he hated it. Lol

Did we ever believe that we should focus on Google and ignore all the rest?

    Really?
